PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between George Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Howard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that John Howard was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Pierre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Howard!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre swats away the attempt to clinch by Howard.

Pierre darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Pierre is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Pierre wants to pass to mount but Howard is defending the position.
Pierre trying to control the pace.
Howard is trying to stand up here but Pierre is controlling him well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pierre looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Pierre wants to work for an arm triangle but Howard is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Howard wants to get back to his feet.
Pierre thows a huge punch but Howard dodges it nicely.
Pierre takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Pierre is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Howard doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pierre.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pierre is trying to control. Howard wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pierre in particular looking to stall.
Howard pushes Pierre off looking to stand but Pierre dives back in and keeps control.
Pierre keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Pierre is trying to work for a kimura but Howard is defending well.
Pierre works his way into full mount!

Howard has given up his back. Will we see Pierre going for some submissions?

Howard defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Howard is taking damage to the body and head.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Howard is trying to get back to his feet but Pierre has full control of the position and if anything, Howard has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Howard defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Pierre's arms.
Howard controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Pierre has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Howard's body.

Pierre is looking for the choke from the back position but Howard is controlling his hands well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Pierre's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Pierre avoids the head kick by Howard.

Pierre looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Howard!
Pierre connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Pierre is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Howard to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Howard shrugs it off.
Howard is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Pierre pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Howard is trying to stand.

Pierre looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Howard is breathing heavily.
Pierre putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Pierre is stalling here but it's allowed Howard to get half guard.
Pierre is pressing down on Howard's thigh, looking to free his foot. Howard is holding on for now.
Pierre is controlling the pace.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pierre takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Pierre not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Howard is looking to escape.
Pierre tries to pass to full mount but Howard defends it.
Howard is staying active underneath Pierre, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Pierre is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Howard tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Pierre manages to move to mount!
Pierre content just to control the position here.
Howard tries to buck Pierre off but he can't manage it.
Pierre takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pierre scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Pierre is working for a guillotine from mount but Howard frees his head quite easily.

Howard tries to buck Pierre off but Pierre takes his back!

George Pierre dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Pierre closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pierre lands in his opponent's guard.
Pierre throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Pierre postures up in Howard's guard and throws a big left but Howard blocks it.
Pierre trying to control but Howard is working from the bottom.
Howard is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Pierre working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Howard pushes Pierre off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Pierre lands with a thumping leg kick.
Howard wants to clinch.
Pierre dips to his left and cracks Howard with an uppercut!
Howard is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Pierre shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Howard's guard.
Pierre passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The referee asks Pierre politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Pierre prefers to stall for the moment though.

Pierre tries to score with some ground and pound. Howard controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Pierre staying calm.

Pierre is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Howard is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Pierre tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pierre has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Howard is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

George Pierre is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
