Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bob Builder! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jesus Gouveia! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gouveia looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Builder is fending him off so far but Gouveia persists. Nope, Builder circles away and we're back to standing. Gouveia shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Gouveia shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Builder defends it nicely. Bob Builder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesus Gouveia. Gouveia tries for a takedown but Builder sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Gouveia shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Gouveia looks gassed! Builder tries to bum rush Gouveia with a series of wild strikes but Gouveia uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Builder forces Gouveia back against the cage and clinches. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Builder wants the takedown. Gouveia is fighting it off but Builder persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gouveia's guard against the cage. Builder wants to control from the top but Gouveia keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Builder pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gouveia is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gouveia keeping moving, preventing Builder from controlling successfully. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Builder stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gouveia swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We're going to have a standup here because Bob Builder wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Gouveia shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Builder pinned against the cage. Builder gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Builder goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Builder shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Builder showed some decent athleticism there. Gouveia has his hands clasped together around Builder's back. He's all about the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Builder not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Builder is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gouveia defends it well. Well, if Builder is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Builder wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gouveia keeps working.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bob Builder wasn't doing enough on the ground. Gouveia gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Builder counters with a left to the body. Builder punishes Gouveia's body with a nice straight punch. Jesus Gouveia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gouveia fails with the takedown and Builder moves into the clinch. Stalling in the clinch from Builder.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Builder lands a shot to the body. A short body shot lands from Builder as the two fighters clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Builder. Builder wants the takedown. Gouveia is fighting it off but Builder persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gouveia's guard against the cage. Gouveia working a defensive guard here.
Builder drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Builder jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Builder is looking to work some ground and pound but Gouveia has wrist control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Builder thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Builder wants to pass the guard but Gouveia is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A combination from Builder does no damage. Gouveia shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Builder's guard. Gouveia slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Gouveia won't allow Builder to sweep him here. Gouveia tries to free his leg and advance position but Builder is retaining full guard. Builder controls Gouveia momentarily but Gouveia frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bob Builder. Gouveia dodges the punch combination from Builder.
Builder lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Builder fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gouveia manages to avoid it. Gouveia checks a leg kick. Gouveia misses with a takedown attempt and Builder counters with a series of strikes. Gouveia will be more careful next time no doubt. Gouveia is breathing heavily. Gouveia doesn't succeed with the takedown and Builder counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. The fight moves into the clinch position. Builder tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Builder works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Gouveia fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Bob Builder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jesus Gouveia. A short left from Builder. Gouveia jumps guard and drags Builder to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Builder drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gouveia dives on top into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Builder trying to keep a closed guard but Gouveia is proving a slippery customer.
Builder trying to control the position here. Gouveia's corner is telling him to maintain position. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Gouveia won't allow Builder to sweep him here.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Bob Builder just wasn't active enough. Gouveia looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Builder! Builder manages to regain half guard. Good work. Builder manages to get to full guard.

Builder is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gouveia is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Builder is pulling down on Gouveia's head. It's preventing any offense from Gouveia, at least for the moment.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Gouveia shoots and misses and Builder counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Builder throws a leg kick but Gouveia sees it coming and checks it nicely. Gouveia with a poor takedown and Builder counters with a two punch combo. The crowd cheers as Builder lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gouveia doesn't seem phased though. Builder forces Gouveia back against the cage and clinches. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bob Builder dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Builder lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Builder punishes Gouveia's body with a nice straight punch. Builder comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Gouveia takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Builder shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Builder is working for a guillotine from mount but Gouveia frees his head quite easily.

Builder misses with some ground and pound and Gouveia recovers position to half guard. Builder looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Builder is working for a submission of some sort.
Builder is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gouveia is just riding it out for now. Builder eventually gives up the hold.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Builder stops Gouveia from getting back to his feet.
Builder is trying to control. Gouveia wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Builder is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Builder throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Builder trying to control the action but Gouveia is working from the bottom. Bob Builder is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Builder is working for a submission of some sort.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Builder in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Gouveia tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Builder!
