Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gary Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zak Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simmons is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Black camaro. Gary Lee has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gary Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zak Simmons! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee connects with a jab. Lee lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lee changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Simmons looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Lee landing strikes. Lee is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Simmons will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Simmons pushes Lee away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Lee gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lee controls the position. Simmons can't do much from the bottom here. Lee controls the position from side control. Lee tries to advance to mount but can't. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Lee is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Simmons is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Lee staying calm.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simmons is looking to regain half guard here but Lee keeps moving and retains side control. Lee taking a breather here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lee seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Simmons for as long as he can get away with.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gary Lee. Simmons misses with a looping left. Simmons fails to land with a series of punches.
A right-left combo lands from Lee. Lee throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Simmons tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lee is in Simmons's guard. Lee controls from within his opponent's guard. Lee pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Simmons is keeping the position for now. Lee looking to sit in guard and control but Simmons gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lee is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee has his hands on Simmons's head, controlling the position. Simmons wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Simmons looking to sit in guard and control but Lee gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Lee is pushing down on Simmons's leg trying to pass to half guard. Simmons is fighting to maintain full guard but Lee has managed to sneak the leg through.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Lee stops Simmons from getting back to his feet.
Lee frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Lee is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Simmons can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Lee tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gary Lee dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Lee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Simmons escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lee is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Lee has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Lee works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee is controlling the pace.
Simmons actively working from the bottom here. Lee perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lee moves nicely into side control. Lee is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Simmons has escaped the position, nice work there. Lee controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simmons is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lee in particular looking to stall. Simmons is breathing heavily.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Gary Lee just wasn't active enough. Lee shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Simmons's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee forces his way into half guard. Lee with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Lee is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Simmons is just riding it out for now. Lee eventually gives up the hold. Lee is figuring out what he wants to do next.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lee is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Simmons! Lee controlling from the full mount. Simmons can't escape the position.
Gary Lee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lee tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Lee is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Simmons to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Simmons shrugs it off. Lee takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Lee landing punches. Simmons is trying to stand up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gary Lee dominated that second round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
A jab from Lee does it's job there. Lee closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Simmons did well to prevent Lee getting side control. Lee is taking a breather. Simmons says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Lee works his way into side control. Lee is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Simmons is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Lee's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Simmons takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
We're going to have a standup here because Gary Lee wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Simmons lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lee backs up against the cage.
Gary Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Simmons's corner calls for a 1-2. Simmons obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Lee scores a takedown into full mount! Lee takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lee postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Simmons looks a forlorn figure.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Lee controlling his opponent. Gary Lee is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Simmons trying desperately to get to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight! Gary Lee showed his dominance in that final round. Well Lee has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
