PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Dammut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Hurley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hurley has chosen Fools Gold as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Dammut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Hurley!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dammut connects with a nice looking jab.

Dammut is pushing Hurley's head away, looking to escape. Hurley manages to hold on to the position though.
Dammut knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hurley on the ground.

Hurley is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Dammut has escaped the position, nice work there.

Hurley is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dammut knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dammut pushes Hurley away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hurley gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Hurley tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hurley has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Hurley has hold of Dammut's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dammut manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Dammut could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hurley wants to finish this one by submission but Dammut is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hurley.

You get the feeling that Dammut really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dammut is trying to escape the mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Dammut tries to hold on but Hurley postures up.
Dammut keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hurley with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Hurley closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hurley takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Hurley has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Dammut finds it's way round the side to connect with Hurley's head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters circle momentarily. Dammut darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Hurley drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Dammut, as that shot connected.
Jack Dammut is winning the standup battle so far.
Dammut misses with a head kick.
Hurley shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Dammut slaps away a takedown attempt from Hurley, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Dammut connects with a single shot there.
Hurley looks for a takedown but Dammut sprawls well.
A jab lands there for Dammut.
Dammut is looking to land body kicks.
Dammut displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hurley.
Jack Dammut has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Hurley.
Dammut throws a series of punches but Hurley avoids them all with ease.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
