PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phil The Phantom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregg Valentine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Phantom kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Super Freak. Valentine has chosen Downtown Swinga 96 by MOP as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phil The Phantom!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gregg Valentine!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valentine comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
The Phantom changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Valentine tries to avoid it but The Phantom manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Valentine to the ground. Valentine escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The Phantom decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The Phantom looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Valentine with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The Phantom with the ground and pound but Valentine uses the opportunity to regain guard.

The Phantom has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Valentine stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The Phantom swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The Phantom controls Valentine momentarily but Valentine frees himself.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Gregg Valentine was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Valentine parries the strikes from The Phantom easily there. The Phantom is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Valentine to escape.

Gregg Valentine's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Gregg Valentine's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
