Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jake Jacobson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jim Anderson! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jacobson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Anderson tries to bench press Jacobson off him but Jacobson keeps the position. Anderson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jacobson trying to control the position but Anderson is working away. Anderson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Anderson actively working from the bottom here. Jacobson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Jacobson trying to control the action but Anderson is working from the bottom. Anderson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Jacobson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Anderson looking for submissions off his back. Anderson wants to improve his position but Jacobson is controlling well.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Anderson misses with an uppercut. Jacobson dodges the punch combination from Anderson.
Jacobson goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Jacobson takes the fight into the clinch. Anderson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jacobson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Anderson to the mat. Anderson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Jacobson stopping the sweep attempt from Anderson. Anderson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jacobson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Anderson looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jacobson tries to free his leg and advance position but Anderson is retaining full guard. Jacobson slips nicely into half guard. Anderson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Jacobson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Anderson on the ground. Anderson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Anderson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Anderson actively working from the bottom here. Jacobson is keen to just control but Anderson is a slippery customer.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Jacobson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Anderson takes a kick to the side of the head. Anderson looks to land a combination but Jacobson avoids it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Anderson tries to clinch there but Jacobson circles away.
Anderson with a lazy takedown attempt and Jacobson counters with a head kick. Jim Anderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jacobson throws a head kick that Anderson semi-blocks.
Anderson misses with a combination
and Jacobson counters with a big head kick but Anderson shrugs it off. Anderson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jacobson wants to clinch. Jacobson clinches up against the cage. Jacobson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Anderson smiles and moves away.
Anderson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jacobson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Anderson manages to pull guard.
Anderson is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Jacobson has his hands clasped together but Anderson extends an breaks Jacobson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Anderson.
