Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Dempsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergei Luchenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Dempsey could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Sergei Luchenko's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Dempsey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sergei Luchenko! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Luchenko fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dempsey swats away the attempt to clinch by Luchenko. Luchenko shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dempsey as he avoids it easily. Luchenko tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dempsey swats him away and circles back towards the center. Luchenko tries to clinch there but Dempsey circles away.
Mark Dempsey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dempsey swats away the attempt to clinch by Luchenko. Dempsey slips a jab and a cross from Luchenko.
Luchenko fails with the takedown. Luchenko tries to close the distance and clinch but Dempsey swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Luchenko tries to clinch but Dempsey is having none of it. Luchenko tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Luchenko misses with a head kick.
Luchenko fails with the takedown. Mark Dempsey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sergei Luchenko. Luchenko tries to keep at a distance but Dempsey has taken the fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Luchenko is trying to break the clinch but Dempsey has him pressed against the cage. Luchenko fails to pull guard.

Luchenko is trying to keep Dempsey in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Luchenko is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Dempsey trying to control the position from guard on top but Luchenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Luchenko shoots for a double leg takedown but Dempsey sprawls well. He's pushed Luchenko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Dempsey feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Luchenko tries to strike from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Luchenko wants to get back to his feet but Dempsey is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Luchenko looking for a sweep. Not yet Luchenko, not yet. Luchenko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Dempsey wants to control from the top but Luchenko keeps moving.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Luchenko, as that shot connected.
Dempsey will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Luchenko fails with the takedown and Dempsey counters with a lovely straight right hand!
It looks like Sergei Luchenko has been cut. Dempsey is breathing heavily. Luchenko throws a shot to the body.

and Luchenko counters with a series of strikes. Dempsey will be more careful next time no doubt. Luchenko gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Dempsey counters by clinching up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dempsey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Luchenko with a poor takedown and Dempsey counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Luchenko throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Dempsey dominated that round. The cut man is working on Sergei Luchenko's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Luchenko shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Dempsey counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dempsey. Dempsey is pressed up against the cage. Luchenko has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dempsey down to the mat. Dempsey avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Luchenko tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dempsey swats him away and circles back towards the center. Dempsey looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Luchenko is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dempsey is aware though and is defending well. Luchenko trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Luchenko has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Dempsey should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Luchenko has tightened it up now! Dempsey should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
