Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Cirus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manuel Costa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cirus comes to the cage accompanied by He's a Pirate - Pirates of the Caribbean theme. Tom Cirus has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tom Cirus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Manuel Costa! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Costa throws a right and a left that both miss. Cirus lands a glancing blow to the side of Costa's head. Costa uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cirus.
Costa tries to bum rush Cirus with a series of wild strikes but Cirus uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Costa misses with a few strikes there.
Costa throws a shot from downtown. Cirus moves away and avoids it. Costa shoots for a double leg takedown but Cirus sprawls well. He's pushed Costa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Costa doesn't manage to clinch there - Cirus circles away.
Cirus pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Donk. Cirus catches Costa right on the button with a cross. Cirus lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Costa throws a series of punches but Cirus avoids them all with ease. Costa darts in and clinches Cirus up against the cage. Cirus jumps guard but Costa stands there with Cirus around his waist. Cirus gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Costa has had enough of the clinch but Cirus keeps him there for the moment. Cirus jumps guard and drags Costa to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Costa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cirus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Costa has managed to get both his arms back between Cirus's legs - danger averted. Costa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cirus is keeping the position for now. Costa with a nice head shot there. Costa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cirus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cirus working for a triangle but Costa defends it easily.
Costa wants to control from the top but Cirus keeps moving. Cirus has his foot on Costa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Costa works his way back into a safe position though. Costa thows a big elbow that misses. Costa tries to stand but Cirus is controlling from the bottom. Costa controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Costa missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Cirus working for a triangle but Costa defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Costa postures up in Cirus's guard and throws a big left but Cirus blocks it. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Costa's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Cirus preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Costa with a nice head shot there. Costa loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Costa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Costa in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Cirus keeping full guard, as Costa tries to pass. Costa lands a couple of decent looking shots. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tom Cirus dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Cirus slips a jab and a cross from Costa.
Costa throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Costa misses with a shot to the body and Cirus counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Costa is looking to clinch. Costa darts in trying to clinch and Cirus cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Costa tries to clinch but Cirus moves away and Cirus counters with a nice double leg into side control. Costa won't be happy with that. Cirus tries for a kimura but Costa is defending well. Cirus tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Cirus tries for a kimura but Costa is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cirus thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cirus wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Costa, who protects the arm well. Cirus is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Costa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Costa is trying to buck Cirus off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Cirus tries for a kimura but Costa is defending well. I wouldn't like to be where Costa is right now. Cirus is working to tighten is grip on Costa's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Costa has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Cirus is really squeezing tight and eventually Costa passes out! Cirus breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Tom Cirus!
