PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cesar Filho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Filho misses with a wild combination.
Gracie just misses with a punch to the body.
Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Filho pinned against the cage. Filho gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Filho tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gracie swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gracie fails in his attempt to clinch.

Gracie gets a takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Gracie seems content to control.
Filho slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Filho seems keen to control Gracie's posture.
Gracie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Filho manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gracie manages to get himself to full guard.
Filho is looking to stand up but Gracie won't let him.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Filho has managed to clinch.

Filho jumps guard and drags Gracie to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Filho keeps moving.
Gracie looking to sit in guard and control but Filho gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie trying to keep a closed guard but Filho is proving a slippery customer.

Filho not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Filho is pushing down on Gracie's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gracie is fighting to maintain full guard but Filho has managed to sneak the leg through.

Filho seems to be looking for submissions.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Filho pulls his head out easily.
Filho is breathing heavily.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Filho in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Filho decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Lucas Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt - Filho sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Filho takes one on the button.
Gracie looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Filho displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gracie.
Cesar Filho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Gracie.
The fight stays on the outside here - Filho looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Filho lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Filho shoots in for a takedown but Gracie shows good takedown defense.

Filho throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Gracie because Filho loaded up on that one.

Gracie is trying desperately to improve position.

Filho jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Gracie manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Filho wants to clinch.
Gracie misses with a takedown

and Filho counters with a shoot takedown. Gracie fights it but they end up in guard.

Filho won't allow Gracie to sweep him here.

Filho trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Filho controls from within his opponent's guard.

Filho drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Gracie dives on top into guard.

Filho is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Gracie scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Gracie trying to control but Filho is working from the bottom.
Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Gracie postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Filho is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gracie, into his guard.

Gracie has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Filho is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gracie.

Filho works to advance to full mount. Gracie defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Gracie tries to reverse the position but Filho maintains control.
Filho looking to control but Gracie is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Filho thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Filho has managed to clinch.

Filho jumps guard and drags Gracie to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Gracie stands and throws Filho's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Gracie scores with a couple of short elbows.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Filho manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Filho is trying to work for a kimura but Gracie is defending well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Gracie wants to control but Filho is keeping busy.

Filho prevents Gracie from improving his position.
Filho thows a huge punch but Gracie dodges it nicely.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Filho passes the guard and advances to mount!
Filho wants to control the pace but Gracie is squirming around nicely.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Filho cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Gracie wants to hold on but Filho pushes him away.
Filho cracks Gracie with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Filho tries to control but Gracie wriggling away.
Filho takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Filho misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Filho is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Gracie is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Gracie flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Filho anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Gracie and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Filho slips an arm under Gracie chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Filho has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Filho is squeezing on Gracie like an anaconda would it's prey. Gracie fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
