PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Velazquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez has chosen Naughty by Nature - O.P.P. as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Velazquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Carlos Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velazquez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Carlos Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sanchez gets caught flat footed, as Velazquez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Velazquez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sanchez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Velazquez works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Sanchez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Velazquez is working away from the top position though.
Velazquez is trying to control. Sanchez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Velazquez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Sanchez is looking to escape.
Velazquez content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Velazquez works his way into side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Velazquez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sanchez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Velazquez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Velazquez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Velazquez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Velazquez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Sanchez tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Sanchez pushes Velazquez away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Velazquez gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Sanchez tries to improve position but can't.

Velazquez is working to tighten is grip on Sanchez's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Sanchez has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Velazquez is really squeezing tight and eventually Sanchez passes out! Velazquez breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
