Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ernest Doyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Waldir Carvalho!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doyle slaps away a takedown attempt from Carvalho, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Carvalho is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Doyle fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carvalho misses the shot to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Carvalho is defended easily by Doyle.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Doyle lands with a hook. Carvalho tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Carvalho tries to score a power double leg takedown but Doyle sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carvalho somewhat.
Ernest Doyle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Waldir Carvalho.
Carvalho closes this distance looking for a takedown but Doyle circles away.

Doyle feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Doyle avoids the attempt from Carvalho to control.

so Doyle counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Doyle is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Doyle drops back looking for a leg! Carvalho is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Carvalho manages to kick Doyle off! Doyle jumps back into Carvalho's guard.

Doyle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Doyle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Doyle is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Doyle tries to free his leg and advance position but Carvalho is retaining full guard.
Doyle forces his way into half guard.

Still in half guard, Doyle seems content to control.
Doyle moves into full mount! Carvalho won't be happy about that!

Doyle seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Carvalho for as long as he can get away with.

Doyle has hold of Carvalho's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Carvalho manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Carvalho has given up his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Carvalho clinches but Doyle breaks the clinch
and Doyle makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

and Doyle decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Carvalho's guard.

Doyle is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Carvalho will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Doyle decides to stand back up. Doyle steps back and let's Carvalho get back to his feet.

and Carvalho takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
