PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Larry Lynxx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: BIlat-inamo. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynxx lands a nice looking body shot.
Lynxx lands a head kick!

Paul gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lynxx to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Paul has momentary wrist control but Lynxx slips an elbow through the middle.
Paul is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lynxx stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Paul swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lynxx has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Paul wriggles free and stands up.

Lynxx explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Lynxx shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Paul but Paul pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Horrible takedown by Paul or perhaps it was just good defense by Lynxx which made him look bad.

and Lynxx counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Paul thinking.

Lynxx has taken the fight to the clinch.
Lynxx is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Lynxx wants the takedown. Paul is fighting it off but Lynxx persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Paul's guard against the cage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Paul wants to stand up but Lynxx is controlling him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lynxx scores with a one two! Paul had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Lynxx shoots in looking for a takedown. Paul tries to sprawl out of it but Lynxx keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Paul manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lynxx lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A thudding body kick lands there by Lynxx!
Horrible takedown by Paul or perhaps it was just good defense by Lynxx which made him look bad.

Lynxx's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Lynxx throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Paul's waist but Paul gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lynxx off to one side.
Lynxx lands a body shot.
Lynxx goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Paul misses with a double jab
and Lynxx counters with a low kick, right behind Paul 's knee.
Paul is breathing heavily.
Lynxx thuds his shin into the meat of Paul's side.
Lynxx moves out of range as Paul strikes.

Lynxx shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Lynxx throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lynxx with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lynxx is looking to take a break and control but Paul is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lynxx passes the guard and advances to mount!
Paul wants to control but Lynxx is having none of it.

Lynxx working the ground and pound effectively.
Paul working to try and regain half guard.
Paul tries to lock up and control but Lynxx gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lynxx controlling from mount.
Lynxx trying to control but Paul is having none of it.
Paul wants to hold on but Lynxx pushes him away.
Paul squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Lynxx moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Lynxx closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Paul pushes Lynxx away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Lynxx gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Lynxx is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Paul will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Lynxx will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Lynxx in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Lynxx just content to control the position.
Paul regains half guard.
Paul takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Paul preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Paul is refusing to be controlled, as Lynxx sits in half guard.
Paul tries to kick Lynxx off but Lynxx keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Lynxx is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Paul has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lynxx is working away from the top position though.

Lynxx is stalling here. Paul is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Lynxx seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Paul has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Paul tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Paul has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Paul is trying to control the action in half guard but Lynxx is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lynxx lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Paul backs up against the cage.
Lynxx feints and then cracks Paul's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Paul down.
Paul takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Lynxx lands a nice shot that snaps Paul's head back.
Lynxx comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Lynxx getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
A chopping leg kick lands by Lynxx.
Peter Paul has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lynxx throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Paul.
Larry Lynxx is winning the standup battle so far.
Paul shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Well Lynxx has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
