Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genku Chiba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ron John! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Genku Chiba! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! John looks to land a combination but Chiba avoids it well. Chiba circles away from the clinch attempt.
Chiba avoids the body shot from John.
John will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Chiba lands with a hook. John tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Chiba shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. John shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chiba pinned against the cage. Chiba gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chiba steps to the side to avoid the strikes from John.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chiba with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling John to score with a decent uppercut. Chiba takes a body punch but keeps moving. Nice takedown defense from Chiba. No joy for John on that attempt. John tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chiba sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten John somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ron John. That's going to take a lot out of him. John cracks Chiba with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Ron John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice uppercut there from John. Chiba ducks under a wild hook from John. Chiba slips under a jab from John.

John is looking to clinch but Chiba is avoiding it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from John. Chiba throws a low kick, looking for John's leg but John calmly moves out of range. John throws a looping overhand right but Chiba ducks down to avoid it. John throws a lazy right hand but Chiba sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. John closes the distance and clinches up with Chiba, looking for a takedown. John pushes Chiba against the cage but Chiba circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. John takes a kick to the side of the head. Chiba misses with an uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chiba misses with a low kick. John scores with a jab. Chiba throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. John misses with a straight left. John throws a jab but it's blocked by Chiba. John blocks a head kick by Chiba.
Chiba takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. John bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Chiba ducks under a wild hook from John. Chiba works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. John connects with a crisp jab. A slow jab from John misses its intended target. Nice body punch from John. Chiba displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as John throws out the jab. A big left from John misses. John fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chiba manages to avoid it. John is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. No luck for John with that takedown attempt. John misses with an uppercut. Chiba saw that one coming. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ron John will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

That's going to take a lot out of him. John throws a jab but it's blocked by Chiba. John is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. John throws a nice looking combination but Chiba bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Chiba scores with a decent looking hook.

Chiba slaps away a takedown attempt from John, before circling back to the center of the mat. The fight stays on the outside here - John looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. John shoots in but no luck this time. John looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Chiba has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from John finds it's way round the side to connect with Chiba's head. John shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chiba defends it nicely. Chiba tries a head kick but it misses.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Chiba leaves John with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Genku Chiba showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Chiba throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. John's corner calls for a 1-2. John obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Chiba lands a leg kick that knocks John off balance momentarily. John cracks Chiba with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. John shoots in and drives through. Chiba sprawls well. The fighters circling - John throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Chiba fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt John. John stuns Chiba with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Genku Chiba seems to be getting the better of the standup. John tries to clinch up but Chiba circles away and keeps his distance.

Chiba will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Nice uppercut there from Chiba. John slips under a jab. Nice defenses there by Chiba. John jabbing away but nothing is landing. Chiba throws a leg kick but John sees it coming and moves out of range. Chiba throws an overhand right that lands on John's shoulder, as John tries to avoid the shot. John misses with a straight left. Chiba walks into a left hand. Chiba scores with the left hand. John knows he should have avoided that one. Chiba moves out of range as John strikes.
And that's the end of the fight! Genku Chiba comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Chiba has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
