Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Van Smack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Uppercutt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lance Uppercutt!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uppercutt fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Smack gets caught flat footed, as Uppercutt shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Smack controlling the position.
Uppercutt preventing the sweep.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smack has his hands on Uppercutt's head, controlling the position.
Uppercutt should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Smack keeping moving, preventing Uppercutt from controlling successfully.
Smack is looking to stand up but Uppercutt isn't so interested in that idea.
Smack wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Smack tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Uppercutt sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Smack's guard.
Uppercutt is looking to take a break and control but Smack is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smack on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smack tries to get out of the position.
Uppercutt wants to stand up but Smack is controlling the position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Uppercutt in particular looking to stall.
Uppercutt is looking to take a break and control but Smack is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smack is looking to control Uppercutt's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smack avoid being mounted?

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Uppercutt is pressing down on Smack's thigh, looking to free his foot. Smack is holding on for now.
Smack holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Smack is trying to stand back up but Uppercutt is controlling him
Uppercutt trying to control the action but Smack is working from the bottom.
Smack is looking to control Uppercutt's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smack avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Smack slaps away a takedown attempt from Uppercutt, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Smack tries to bum rush Uppercutt with a series of wild strikes but Uppercutt uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Smack closes the distance and clinches.
Smack changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Uppercutt fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Smack stuffs the takedown attempt from Uppercutt. Uppercutt gets slowly back to his feet.
Van Smack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lance Uppercutt.
Smack looks to land a right hand but Uppercutt moved out of range.
Smack tries to close the distance and clinch up but Uppercutt swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Smack shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Uppercutt tries to reverse the position but Smack maintains control.
Uppercutt looks gassed!

Smack avoids the attempt from Uppercutt to control.
Uppercutt holds on to Smack as tight as he can, avoiding damage.
Uppercutt is squirming around, avoiding Smack's attempts to control the action.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Uppercutt is trying desperately to improve position.
Smack controlling the position easily from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Van Smack will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Uppercutt avoids a punch combination nicely.

Smack darts in and clinches Uppercutt up against the cage.
Uppercutt's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Uppercutt jumps guard but Smack stands there with Uppercutt around his waist. Uppercutt gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Smack can't get the takedown.
Smack has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Uppercutt avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smack tries to break free but Uppercutt pushes him back against the cage.
Smack has Uppercutt pushed against the cage.
Uppercutt tries for a takedown but Smack manages to get underhooks.
Van Smack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lance Uppercutt.

Uppercutt can't find room to land a body shot as Smack controls the action.
Uppercutt scores with a shot to the side of Smack's head.
Uppercutt has Smack pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Smack manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Uppercutt is breathing heavily.
Uppercutt tries to pull guard but Smack holds him up against the cage and eventually Uppercutt drops back down to his feet.
Smack prevents a takedown attempt there.

Uppercutt trying to control but Smack is working from the bottom.

Uppercutt stops Smack from getting back to his feet.
Smack trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Uppercutt is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Smack keeping hold of Uppercutt's head, controlling as best he can.
Smack moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Uppercutt gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Smack with a lazy takedown attempt

and Uppercutt counters by moving into the clinch.
Uppercutt is working for takedown but Smack is calmly controlling the position for now.
Smack can't get the takedown.

Uppercutt prevents Smack from breaking the clinch.
Uppercutt drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Smack pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smack moves out of range of the body kick.

Uppercutt shoots in and bounces Smack off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Uppercutt has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smack is proving hard to escape from.

Smack pushes Uppercutt off and scrambles back to his feet.
Uppercutt wants to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Lance Uppercutt will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Smack throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Smack avoids the body shot from Uppercutt.

Uppercutt decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Smack misses with a wild combination.
Smack will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Smack has managed to clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Uppercutt tries to clinch up but Smack circles away and keeps his distance.

Uppercutt rushes Smack and presses him up against the cage.
Smack tries a body shot but Uppercutt blocks it.

Uppercutt breaks the clinch.
Smack misses with a hook. Uppercutt ducked under it nicely.
Smack falls off balance throwing a combination
and Uppercutt counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Uppercutt shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Smack controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Smack pushes Uppercutt off looking to stand but Uppercutt dives back in and keeps control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smack is looking to improve his position.
Smack is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Uppercutt's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Uppercutt's back!
Smack is controlling the position but Uppercutt somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Uppercutt wants to improve his position but Smack is controlling well.

Smack is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Uppercutt manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Still in half guard, Smack seems content to control.
Lance Uppercutt has got the better of the ground game so far.
Smack has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Uppercutt is looking to improve his position.

The fighters are battling for position here. Uppercutt manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Uppercutt seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Uppercutt working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Smack.
Uppercutt trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Lance Uppercutt comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Uppercutt has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
