PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mohamed Sissoko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mohamed Sissoko was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Daniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mohamed Sissoko!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels is looking to clinch.
Daniels shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sissoko pinned against the cage. Sissoko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Daniels fails to land the takedown.
Daniels misses with a takedown attempt - Sissoko sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Daniels. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Daniels shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sissoko as he avoids it easily.
Daniels throws a series of punches but Sissoko avoids them all with ease.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sissoko feints and then cracks Daniels's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Daniels down.
Daniels shoots in looking for a takedown. Sissoko tries to sprawl out of it but Daniels keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sissoko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Daniels steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Sissoko. That one must have hurt.
Daniels is breathing heavily.

Sissoko shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Sissoko sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Daniels's guard.
Daniels tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Daniels knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sissoko on the ground.

I looks like Sissoko might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Sissoko is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Daniels can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Sissoko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Sissoko can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Daniels is looking to escape.

Sissoko is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Daniels has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Daniels takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Daniels is desperately trying to improve his position but Sissoko has a good base and remains in mount.
Sissoko seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Daniels is holding on tight.
Daniels tries to hold on but Sissoko pushes him away.
Sissoko cracks Daniels with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Sissoko has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Daniels's face.
Daniels tries to hold on but Sissoko postures up.
Sissoko won't let Daniels get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sissoko lands a heavy elbow.
Sissoko has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Daniels keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Daniels is bucking up trying to escape but Sissoko cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Let's hope that Sissoko has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Daniels is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Daniels's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

You can see the frustration on Daniels's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Daniels is looking to improve his position but Sissoko isn't that keen on the idea.

Daniels rolls, trying to escape but Sissoko keeps control of the position.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Mohamed Sissoko has got the better of the ground game so far.
Daniels covers up after that shot from Sissoko.

Sissoko has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Sissoko is persistently looking for the submission but Daniels is defending it well.

Daniels rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Daniels is trying to get back to full guard.

Sissoko decides to return to a standing position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Daniels throws a right and a left that both miss.
Daniels tries to close the distance and clinch but Sissoko swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Daniels fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

A left and a right from Daniels both land. Nice combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mohamed Sissoko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
