Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pavel Kaszionov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Stevens has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Stevens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pavel Kaszionov!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaszionov misses with a hook. Stevens ducked under it nicely.
Kaszionov looks to score with a jab to the body but Stevens is just out of range.
Pavel Kaszionov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kaszionov tries to keep at a distance but Stevens has taken the fight into the clinch.
Stevens is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Kaszionov decides to pull guard.
Stevens postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Stevens stands up over Kaszionov, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Kaszionov bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stevens's guard.

Stevens wants to work for an arm triangle but Kaszionov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Stevens wants to take a breather but Kaszionov is having none of it.
Stevens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of John Stevens.

Stevens closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Stevens fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Stevens shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kaszionov but Kaszionov pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Kaszionov looks to land a combination. Stevens sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Stevens tries to close the distance and clinch but Kaszionov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kaszionov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kaszionov fails with the takedown

and Stevens counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Stevens.

Stevens stands and throws Kaszionov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Stevens is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kaszionov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Stevens, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
