PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daavid Haapalainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kristofir Lytle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Daavid Haapalainen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kristofir Lytle!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haapalainen throws a right and a left that Lytle avoids nicely.

Lytle takes the fight into the clinch.
Haapalainen stops a takedown attempt from Lytle.
Haapalainen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lytle smiles and moves away.
Haapalainen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lytle as he avoids it easily.
Haapalainen stuffs the takedown attempt from Lytle. Lytle gets slowly back to his feet.
Lytle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Daavid Haapalainen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kristofir Lytle.
Haapalainen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lytle tries to score a power double leg takedown but Haapalainen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lytle somewhat.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

I looks like Lytle might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

You can see the frustration on Lytle's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Haapalainen creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lytle sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Daavid Haapalainen.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Haapalainen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
