Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn misses with the combination.

and Penn counters with a series of strikes. Persson will be more careful next time no doubt.

Persson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Penn throws a series of punches but Persson avoids them all with ease.

Penn looks to land a combination. Persson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Persson is still on wobbly legs! Can Penn finish him?
Penn throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Persson stumbling backwards into the cage! Persson bounces back off the cage towards Penn, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Penn lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Penn celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). DJ Penn!
