PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Samambaia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lynch comes to the cage accompanied by New Noise - Refused. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Lynch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fernando Samambaia!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samambaia cracks a nice hook into Lynch's ribs.
Nice defenses there by Lynch.

Lynch pushes Samambaia up against the cage in a clinch.
Samambaia blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Samambaia wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lynch has him pressed against the cage.

Lynch works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Lynch trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Samambaia manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Samambaia thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Lynch is working to get back to half guard.
Samambaia looking to ground and pound but Lynch is blocking nicely.
Samambaia has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Samambaia lands with some strikes.
Samambaia tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Samambaia landing punches.
Lynch is looking to improve his position but Samambaia isn't that keen on the idea.
Samambaia takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Samambaia trying to control but Lynch is having none of it.

Lynch on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lynch tries to get out of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Samambaia working the ground and pound effectively.
Samambaia with shots to the head and body - Lynch looks very uncomfortable down there.


It looks like Nathan Lynch has been cut.
Samambaia thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Samambaia tries to control but Lynch wriggling away.
Samambaia looking to ground and pound but Lynch is blocking nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Samambaia jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Lynch is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Lynch and Samambaia has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Samambaia looks up at the clock and then as Lynch takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Samambaia smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Nathan Lynch's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Samambaia shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Lynch tries to close the distance and clinch up but Samambaia swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Samambaia lands a jab to Lynch's midsection.

Samambaia has managed to clinch.
Samambaia has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lynch is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Samambaia tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lynch smiles and moves away.
Samambaia shoots in but Lynch avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nathan Lynch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fernando Samambaia.
Lynch is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Samambaia tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lynch sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Samambaia somewhat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Samambaia shoots in and drives through. Lynch sprawls well.
Samambaia wants to clinch but Lynch slips to the side

and Lynch moves into the clinch.
Lynch is pressed up against the cage. Samambaia has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lynch down to the mat. Lynch avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Samambaia gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Lynch counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Samambaia is breathing heavily.

Lynch has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Samambaia regains guard immediately.
Lynch trying to control but Samambaia is working from the bottom.

Lynch drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lynch jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lynch is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Lynch has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lynch trying to control but Samambaia is working from the bottom.

Lynch postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Samambaia is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lynch, into his guard.

Lynch is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Samambaia is aware though and is defending well.
Samambaia landing with the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Lynch dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Nathan Lynch's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Samambaia tries for a takedown but Lynch circles away easily

and Lynch moves into the clinch.
Lynch makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Lynch can't get the takedown.
Samambaia can't get the takedown.
Lynch has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Samambaia is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Lynch tries to score a body lock takedown but Samambaia shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nathan Lynch. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Samambaia drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lynch pulls his leg out and moves away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Lynch has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Samambaia regains guard immediately.
Lynch wants to control from the top but Samambaia keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Samambaia has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Samambaia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fernando Samambaia has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lynch trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Samambaia looking to control.
Samambaia might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lynch kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Fernando Samambaia.
Lynch keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Samambaia.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Lynch moves into the clinch successfully.

Lynch is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Samambaia can't fight it off and eventually Lynch manages to take the fight to the floor. Samambaia looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Samambaia is on top in guard.
Samambaia takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Samambaia with a flurry of punches that miss.
Samambaia is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Samambaia is looking to work some ground and pound but Lynch has wrist control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nathan Lynch showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lynch has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
