Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Duke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Burke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Duke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricky Burke! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Steve Montenegro and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burke swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Duke misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Duke throws a series of punches but Burke avoids them all with ease. Burke throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A jab from Burke misses. Burke looks to score with a jab to the body but Duke is just out of range. Duke takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Duke tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Burke paws at him with a jab and circles away. Duke cracks a nice hook into Burke's ribs. Burke throws the left hand but Duke avoids the punch easily. Duke uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Burke.

Duke looks to land a combination but Burke avoids it well. Duke attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Burke moves out of range of the body kick. Duke tries to clinch there but Burke circles away.

A shot to the body from Burke misses so Duke counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Burke working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Duke doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Duke manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Duke controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duke trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burke throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Duke thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Burke looking to hit a scissor sweep but Duke is one step ahead there. Duke trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Duke will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Duke shoots in looking for a takedown. Burke tries to sprawl out of it but Duke keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Burke manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Burke looks to land a left hand but Duke moved out of range nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Duke takes a body punch but keeps moving. Duke is breathing heavily. Burke throws a big shot that misses. Burke swings away with a body shot that misses

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Duke is pressing down on Burke's thigh, looking to free his foot. Burke is holding on for now. Burke is staying active underneath Duke, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Duke is keen to just control but Burke is a slippery customer. Duke seems to be working for a kimura but Burke defends the submission attempt.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Burke looks to score with a jab to the body but Duke is just out of range. Burke fails miserably with a takedown attempt. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Duke slips a straight right by Burke. Duke is looking to clinch. Duke goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
