The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sawyer swats him away and circles back towards the center. Left hook, right uppercut from Sawyer. Jackson tries to clinch up but Sawyer circles away and keeps his distance. Pepper Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jackson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sawyer circles away. Jackson doesn't manage to clinch there - Sawyer circles away.

He's being very persistent here but Jackson manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Sawyer wants to sweep but no luck. Jackson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Jackson wants to stand and escape but instead Sawyer has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Sawyer moves into the clinch successfully.

Sawyer has hold of one of Jackson's legs. Jackson is fighting the takedown attempt but Sawyer gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Jackson has his foot on Sawyer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sawyer works his way back into a safe position though. Sawyer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Jackson holds on and takes a little breather. Sawyer preventing the sweep. Jackson throws a head kick that misses. Jackson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sawyer did well to prevent Jackson getting side control. Sawyer looking for submissions off his back. Sawyer is looking to control Jackson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sawyer avoid being mounted? Sawyer is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Sawyer won't allow Jackson to pass to mount. Jackson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Sawyer to get to his feet. Jackson tries to keep at a distance but Sawyer has taken the fight into the clinch. Sawyer drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Jackson is looking to control Sawyer's arms but Sawyer gets an underhook and turns him. Now Jackson has his back to the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson seems frustrated at his inability to get double underhooks. Sawyer tries to score a body lock takedown but Jackson shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Sawyer gets control of Jackson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sawyer will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Jackson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sawyer, up you get! Jackson throws a head kick but Sawyer moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Jackson looking to control but Sawyer is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Jackson lands a big elbow. Sawyer is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jackson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Sawyer tries to lock up and control but Jackson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pepper Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Tom Sawyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pepper Jackson. Sawyer pulls guard effortlessly. Pepper Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far. Jackson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Sawyer trying to control the position.

Sawyer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jackson is keeping the position for now.

Jackson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sawyer! Sawyer wants to hold on but Jackson pushes him away. Poor strikes thrown by Jackson there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
