Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Max Zorin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Bird (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Max Zorin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Max Zorin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Bird! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bird with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Zorin looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Bird! Bird is looking to get to half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Bird is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Zorin with good strikes from the mount here! Zorin landing strikes from the mount.
Bird is rocked!
It looks like Anderson Bird has been cut. Zorin lands a heavy elbow. Bird is still in real trouble! Can Zorin finish him?
That has opened up Anderson Bird's cut even more. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bird wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Zorin.
Zorin looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Zorin jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bird manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Zorin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bird is fending him off so far but Zorin persists. Nope, Bird circles away and we're back to standing. Zorin is breathing heavily. Zorin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Bird swats away the attempt to clinch by Zorin. Bird stuffs the takedown attempt from Zorin. Zorin gets slowly back to his feet. Zorin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bird circles away. Zorin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Zorin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bird swivels and escapes. Zorin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bird as he jumps to the side. Zorin throws a sloppy head kick and Bird moves out of range easily. Bird stuffs the takedown. Zorin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bird is fending him off so far but Zorin persists. Nope, Bird circles away and we're back to standing. Bird takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Bird seems to have recovered his senses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zorin has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Bird. Bird tries to clinch up. Zorin takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Bird scores with a spinning back kick! Zorin takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Zorin is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Bird lands a front kick. Bird tries to clinch but Zorin moves out of range. Bird thows a body kick. Zorin tries to catch it but that hurt him. Bird clinches with his opponent.
Zorin tries to score a body lock takedown but Bird shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Zorin is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bird gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Bird turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Bird manages to end up in side control. Bird tries to stand but Zorin is controlling his head. Zorin is trying to get back to half guard. Bird lands a few punches from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bird is looking to take a break and control but Zorin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Zorin striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Bird wants to stand but Zorin is controlling his arm. Bird wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zorin keeps working. Bird staying calm. Bird working the ground and pound. Bird happy to just control the position for now. Bird decides to stand up, so the ref orders Zorin to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bird scores with a crisp jab that stopped Zorin in his tracks. Bird swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Zorin counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Bird! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Bird wants to hold on but Zorin pushes him away. Bird tries to reverse the position but Zorin maintains control. Zorin jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bird manages to avoid the submission attempt. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Bird is trying to get back to half guard. Zorin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bird, who protects the arm well. Zorin tries to move into full mount but can't pass Bird's legs. Bird is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bird can't do much from the bottom here. Bird is trying to improve his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Anderson Bird dominated that round. The cut man is working on Anderson Bird's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Bird lets loose with a powerful body kick. Zorin will feel that in the morning. Zorin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Bird is trying to get back to full guard. Zorin scoring with strikes to the body and head. Zorin throwing shots but Bird is blocking nicely. Bird is trying to stand back up but Zorin is controlling him
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bird keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Zorin wants to work for an arm triangle but Bird is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Zorin is pressing down on Bird's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bird is holding on for now. Bird works his way to full guard. Good work. Zorin passes Bird's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Bird has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Zorin is working for a kimura but Bird is defending it quite comfortably.
Bird pushes Zorin off and gets back to his feet. Bird is breathing heavily. Zorin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bird looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zorin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Zorin working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The cut above Anderson Bird's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Zorin working the head and body with strikes.
Anderson Bird's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Anderson Bird's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
