Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Reginald Walker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcelo Bravo! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Walker moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Bravo throws out a loose jab but Walker uses good head movement to avoid it. Bravo connects with a solid leg kick. Bravo pushes Walker up against the cage in a clinch. Walker tries to break the clinch but Bravo is controlling the position. Walker is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Bravo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Reginald Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Walker throws an off balance right hand
and Bravo makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Walker really felt that one! Walker throws a head kick that misses and Bravo counters by clinching up. Bravo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bravo staying out of range there. Walker misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Walker misses with a wild combination.
Bravo slips under a jab from Walker. Bravo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walker as he jumps to the side. Walker misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Walker throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker misses with a wild combination.
A punch combination from Walker misses. Bravo shoots for a double leg takedown but Walker sprawls well. He's pushed Bravo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Bravo shoots in and drives through. Walker sprawls well. Reginald Walker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcelo Bravo. Walker with a body punch. A glancing blow. Walker pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bravo pushes Walker up against the cage in a clinch. Bravo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bravo misses with a body kick. Bravo clinches up against the cage. Bravo successfully pulls guard.
Bravo pushes Walker off and scrambles back to his feet.
Walker tries to bum rush Bravo with a series of wild strikes but Bravo uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Walker scores with a three punch combo!
Bravo is rocked! Walker throws a right and a left that Bravo avoids nicely. Bravo is still on wobbly legs! Can Walker finish him? Walker throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bravo.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walker throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Walker is breathing heavily. Walker will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bravo seems to have recovered his senses. Walker connects with a good right hand that stumbles Bravo. Bravo circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Bravo slips a straight right by Walker. Bravo looks for a takedown but Walker sprawls well. A combination from Walker does no damage. Walker misses with an uppercut. Bravo saw that one coming. Donk. Walker catches Bravo right on the button with a cross. Walker ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bravo moves away. Walker looks to score with a jab to the body but Bravo is just out of range. Bravo closes the distance and clinches. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bravo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bravo steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Walker. Reginald Walker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bravo feints and as Walker raises his hands in defense, Bravo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Bravo won't allow Walker to sweep him here. Bravo trying to control the position from guard on top but Walker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bravo gets to his feet - Walker follows without any prompting. A combination from Walker does no damage. Bravo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bravo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Walker's guard. Bravo won't allow Walker to get back to his feet. Walker looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bravo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Bravo is figuring out what he wants to do next. Walker is looking to escape. Walker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bravo on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bravo stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Walker misses with a combination
and Bravo counters with a head kick. That will keep Walker thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! A jab lands there for Walker. Walker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Bravo fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Walker drops Bravo with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Bravo! Walker dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (strikes). Reginald Walker!
