Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sergio Cardoso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wade Carlson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sergio Cardoso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wade Carlson!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cardoso will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Horrible takedown by Cardoso or perhaps it was just good defense by Carlson which made him look bad.

Carlson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Carlson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
I looks like Carlson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Carlson wants to free his trapped foot but Cardoso is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Carlson prevents Cardoso from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cardoso is trying to maintain the position but Carlson is very close to passing his half guard.
Carlson prevents Cardoso from improving his position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Carlson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cardoso keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cardoso takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Cardoso had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Carlson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Cardoso Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Carlson's back instead.
Cardoso has the hooks in. Carlson is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Cardoso is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Carlson knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Carlson for a finish.

Carlson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cardoso is working away from the top position though.
Carlson holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Despite being in the dominant position, Wade Carlson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

It looks like Sergio Cardoso has been cut.

Carlson clinches up against the cage.

Carlson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Carlson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Carlson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Cardoso is doing well to control the position and prevent Carlson from advancing to side control.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Carlson in particular looking to stall.

Cardoso is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carlson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carlson's back!

Cardoso is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Carlson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Cardoso can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carlson is looking to escape.
Carlson is looking to improve his position but Cardoso isn't that keen on the idea.
Cardoso throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Carlson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cardoso is proving hard to escape from.

Carlson forces Cardoso back against the cage and clinches.

Carlson has picked Cardoso up - he's going for a ride! Carlson dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carlson wants to control from the top but Cardoso keeps moving.
Carlson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cardoso is trying to control the position but Carlson postures up.
Carlson stays in close to Cardoso's body and controls the position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Wade Carlson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Carlson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cardoso's guard now.
Carlson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Cardoso is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Carlson manages to escape and get back to his feet!

and Carlson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cardoso won't be happy with that.
Sergio Cardoso has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Carlson wants to control for a moment but Cardoso uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Wade Carlson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Carlson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
