The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mellark tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Alves is able to avoid easily.
Mellark swings for the body but Alves moves out of range.
Mellark misses with a leg kick.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Alves checks a leg kick.
Mellark leaves Alves with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Alves shoots in and drives through. Mellark sprawls well.
Alves shoots for a takedown but Mellark saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kendall Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mellark throws the kick towards the body but Alves avoids it.
Mellark throws a low kick but it's checked well by Alves.
Mellark defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alves.
Mellark turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Mellark lands a two punch combo.
Alves closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mellark circles away.

Alves shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Alves working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Alves trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Mellark manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Alves controls Mellark momentarily but Mellark frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alves is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Alves looking for a guillotine here but Mellark defends easily.

Alves working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mellark doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mellark manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mellark wants to pass the guard but Alves is keeping the position.

Alves looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Mellark is defending well. Alves quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Mellark has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Alves celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
