Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benoit Giguere!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sergei Dragonov!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick from Dragonov lands but Giguere takes it in his stride.
Dragonov misses with a head kick.
Giguere tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dragonov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Giguere somewhat.
Dragonov throws a head kick that Giguere semi-blocks.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Dragonov lands a leg kick that knocks Giguere off balance momentarily.
Dragonov fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Giguere.
Giguere on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Dragonov throws a nice inside leg kick.
Giguere throws a shot from downtown. Dragonov moves away and avoids it.
A good leg kick by Dragonov.
Giguere stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Dragonov.
Dragonov slips under a jab from Giguere.
Giguere throws a body punch but Dragonov moves out of range.
A chopping leg kick lands by Dragonov.
Dragonov lands a high kick!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dragonov throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Dragonov feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Giguere's calf.
Giguere closes the distance and clinches up with Dragonov, looking for a takedown. Giguere pushes Dragonov against the cage but Dragonov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dragonov thumps Giguere with a low kick.
Dragonov misses with a head kick.
Dragonov fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Giguere has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dragonov moves into the clinch successfully.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Dragonov.
Giguere is breathing heavily.
Dragonov lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Benoit Giguere has been cut.
Giguere is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Dragonov lands an elbow just above Giguere 's eye.
Giguere is rocked!
Dragonov lands a big knee to the head and Giguere goes down! Dragonov pounces and finishes the fight with strikes! He jumps to his feet and celebrates with the crowd!
