PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Magonn Morguss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott Kent looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Magonn Morguss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Scott Kent!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morguss shoots in but Kent avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kent looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Morguss feints and as Kent raises his hands in defense, Morguss changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Morguss working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kent can do anything to dispel that myth.

Morguss seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kent for as long as he can get away with.

Morguss is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kent is just riding it out for now. Morguss eventually gives up the hold.
Morguss seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Morguss has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Morguss takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kent is concentrating on defense, preventing Morguss from advancing position.

Morguss looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Morguss feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Morguss really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kent really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morguss. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Kent's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
