Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robo Cop! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Riggins! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Cop as Riggins shoots in. Cop forces Riggins back against the cage and clinches. Riggins tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cop just stands there and leans against the cage. Cop landing knees to the head.
Riggins is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Cop is keeping busy. Riggins tries to pull guard but Cop won't allow it.
Robo Cop has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Riggins. Cop lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Cop lands a damaging elbow. Cop landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Cop with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Riggins tries to pull guard but Cop holds him up against the cage and eventually Riggins drops back down to his feet.

Riggins looks gassed! Cop lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Cop gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Cop connects with a nasty looking knee right to Riggins's face.
Riggins is rocked! Riggins is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Riggins is still on wobbly legs! Can Cop finish him? Cop lands an elbow that stopped Riggins in his tracks for a moment. Riggins wants to get back to striking at distance but Cop won't allow it.
Cop lands a knee to the head.

Riggins takes an elbow to the forehead. Cop with a knee to the head.

Cop lands an elbow inside. Cop throws a knee to the head but misses.
Cop gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Riggins drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cop pulls his leg out and moves away.
Riggins shoots in for a takedown but Cop shows good takedown defense.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cop avoids the head kick by Riggins.
Riggins fails to land the takedown. Robo Cop is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Riggins looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cop is fending him off so far but Riggins persists. Nope, Cop circles away and we're back to standing. Cop closes the distance and clinches. Knees in the clinch landing for Cop.
Nice elbow from Cop. Riggins takes an elbow to the temple. Cop lands a nice knee to the body. Riggins seems to have recovered his senses. Cop unloads a knee to the mid-section. Riggins lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Riggins breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Cop is looking to clinch. Riggins closes the distance and clinches up with Cop, looking for a takedown. Riggins pushes Cop against the cage but Cop circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Cop is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Riggins. Riggins looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Riggins wants to control from the top but Cop keeps moving. Riggins sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cop's guard. Cop is refusing to be controlled, as Riggins sits in half guard. Cop keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cop is positioning himself well to prevent Riggins advancing to mount. Cop is trying to stand back up but Riggins is controlling him
Riggins landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Cop wants to get back to full guard. Cop kicks Riggins off and gets back to his feet. Riggins looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cop is fending him off so far but Riggins persists. Nope, Cop circles away and we're back to standing. Cop tries to clinch up but Riggins circles away and keeps his distance. Cop closes the distance and clinches. Cop using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Riggins is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Cop lands a knee to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Riggins drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Cop crunches a lovely knee into Riggins's ribcage. With the fighters up against the cage, Cop throws an elbow but misses. Cop misses with a knee to the head. Riggins jumps guard but Cop stands there with Riggins around his waist. Riggins gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cop throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Riggins wants a takedown but no success here.
Riggins wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Riggins has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cop avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Cop keeps control of Riggins as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Cop throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Riggins blocks it with crossed arms. Cop with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Riggins tries for a takedown but Cop manages to get underhooks.
Riggins tries to pull guard but Cop holds him up against the cage and eventually Riggins drops back down to his feet.
Cop lands an elbow inside that Riggins shrugs off. Cop lands an elbow just above Riggins 's eye. Cop has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Riggins - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Cop, and another! Riggins is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Robo Cop!
