1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Floyd Lawton! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lawton scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Lawton controlling the action here. Hazelett actively working from the bottom here. Lawton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hazelett keeps working. Lawton wants to stand but Hazelett has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Hazelett is trying to get back to full guard. Hazelett manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lawton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Lawton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hazelett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lawton wants to control from the top but Hazelett keeps moving.

Lawton tries to free his leg and advance position but Hazelett is retaining full guard. Lawton must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Lawton wants to control from the top but Hazelett keeps moving. Hazelett working for submissions but it's allowed Lawton to get to half guard.

Lawton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Lawton is looking to take a break and control but Hazelett is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Hazelett manages to work his way to half guard, despite Lawton's best efforts. Hazelett tries to roll over but Lawton keeps him under control. Lawton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hazelett with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Hazelett moves into full guard.

Hazelett is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Lawton won't allow Hazelett to sweep him here. Hazelett thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Hazelett has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lawton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Hazelett looking for a guillotine here but Lawton defends easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Lawton's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Hazelett is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Lawton has his hands clasped together but Hazelett extends an breaks Lawton's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hazelett.
