Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Akira Ishikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Semmy Bonjasky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ishikawa comes to the cage accompanied by mindshift genki sudo. Akira Ishikawa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Akira Ishikawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Semmy Bonjasky!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bonjasky tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Ishikawa is able to avoid easily.
Ishikawa wants to clinch.
A nice inside leg kick there by Bonjasky. That's going to slow Ishikawa down.
Bonjasky throws a shot from downtown. Ishikawa moves away and avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bonjasky scores with a head kick.


It looks like Akira Ishikawa has been cut.
Bonjasky keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Bonjasky motions for Ishikawa to come forward. Bonjasky throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Ishikawa fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bonjasky avoids it really well and circles away.
Bonjasky tried to score with a low kick but Ishikawa checks it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bonjasky tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Ishikawa gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Bonjasky working for a triangle but Ishikawa defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bonjasky keeping moving, preventing Ishikawa from controlling successfully.

Bonjasky is looking for a triangle but Ishikawa pushes his legs off easily.

Ishikawa wants to control from the top but Bonjasky keeps moving.
Ishikawa passes Bonjasky's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Ishikawa is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bonjasky doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ishikawa.
Ishikawa is pressing down on Bonjasky's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bonjasky is holding on for now.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ishikawa not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Ishikawa wants to free his trapped foot but Bonjasky is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Ishikawa thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bonjasky's head.
Bonjasky has hold of Ishikawa's hands but Ishikawa slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ishikawa is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bonjasky is just riding it out for now. Ishikawa eventually gives up the hold.
Bonjasky moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Akira Ishikawa will probably get the nod.

Good leg kick by Bonjasky there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Akira Ishikawa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A bone on bone clash there as Ishikawa blocks the leg kick.
Ishikawa avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Ishikawa tries to clinch but Bonjasky is having none of it.
Bonjasky tries to land a leg kick but Ishikawa saw it coming and moves away.
Bonjasky throws a head kick that misses.

Ishikawa closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ishikawa tries to break the clinch but Bonjasky is controlling the position.
Bonjasky is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ishikawa pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Ishikawa gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Ishikawa trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ishikawa postures up in Bonjasky's guard and throws a big left but Bonjasky blocks it.
Bonjasky utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Bonjasky seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Bonjasky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ishikawa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Semmy Bonjasky was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Ishikawa throws a lazy head kick
and Bonjasky counters with a good, hard body kick but Ishikawa shrugs it off.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Bonjasky, right into the meat.
Ishikawa tries to clinch up.
Bonjasky misses with a low kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Bonjasky.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bonjasky tries to keep at a distance but Ishikawa has taken the fight into the clinch.
Ishikawa goes for a takedown attempt but Bonjasky pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ishikawa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bonjasky tries to avoid it but Ishikawa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bonjasky to the ground. Bonjasky escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akira Ishikawa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bonjasky throws a low kick but it's checked well by Ishikawa.

Semmy Bonjasky showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Ishikawa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bonjasky, who protects the arm well.
Bonjasky parries the strikes from Ishikawa easily there. Ishikawa is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bonjasky to escape.

Semmy Bonjasky comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Bonjasky has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
