PBP Commentary

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tanaka Fukuda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zach Striker!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fukuda moves in looking to clinch but Striker pushes him off.

Striker clinches up with Fukuda and pushes him back against the cage.

Striker breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fukuda throws the kick towards the body but Striker avoids it.
Fukuda tries a head kick but it misses.
Fukuda throws a wild body kick that Striker sees coming a mile off.
Fukuda clinches but Striker breaks the clinch

and Striker counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fukuda's guard now.
Fukuda can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Striker controls the pace.
Striker passes Fukuda's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Striker is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Striker stands up out of the half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fukuda tries for a takedown but Striker circles away easily

and Striker counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Fukuda changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Striker fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Fukuda is breathing heavily.

Striker breaks the clinch.

Striker moves into the clinch successfully.

Fukuda pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Striker jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Fukuda walks away with a smile on his face. Striker gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Striker wants to sweep here but Fukuda controlling him for the moment.
Fukuda wants to stand but Striker is controlling his posture from full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Striker is looking for a triangle but Fukuda pushes his legs off easily.

Striker working for submissions but it's allowed Fukuda to get to half guard.
Striker wants to improve his position but Fukuda is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zach Striker dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Striker gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Striker throws his legs up looking for a submission but Fukuda uses it to pass to side control.
Striker isn't going anywhere.

Fukuda stands up.
Fukuda lands with a slapping head kick.


It looks like Zach Striker has been cut.

Striker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fukuda is staying active underneath Striker, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Striker seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Striker is keen to just control but Fukuda is a slippery customer.

Striker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Striker is trying to control the action in half guard but Fukuda is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Zach Striker.

Fukuda lands a high kick to the side of Striker's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Fukuda dives into guard, looking to finish.

Fukuda slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Fukuda stands up and waves to Striker to follow him.
Tanaka Fukuda is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Striker shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fukuda is trying to defend but Striker finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Fukuda is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fukuda regains full guard. Nicely done.

Striker scoring with punches to the head and body.
Striker wants to control from the top but Fukuda keeps moving.
Fukuda is trying to keep Striker in close.

Striker stands up from guard. Let's bang!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fukuda fails with the takedown.
Striker throws a sloppy head kick and Fukuda moves out of range easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Zach Striker's cut.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Striker gets a takedown into half guard.
Striker with the ground and pound but Fukuda uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Fukuda is wriggling around but Striker manages to pass to half guard.
Striker prevents Fukuda from standing back up.
Striker keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Striker gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Striker lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fukuda circles away quickly and effectively.
Fukuda is looking to clinch but Striker is avoiding it.

Striker instigates a clinch.
Striker tries to pull guard but Fukuda won't allow it.
Striker wants to get back to striking at distance but Fukuda won't allow it.
Striker goes for a takedown attempt but Fukuda pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Striker gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Fukuda tries to stall but Striker uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Fukuda seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Striker is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.

Fukuda breaks the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Striker scores a takedown into full mount!

Striker moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Fukuda has worked his arm free - good work by Fukuda!

Zach Striker has got the better of the ground game so far.

Striker is trying to get an arm triangle but Fukuda is defending well.
Fukuda is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Striker just content to control the position.
Striker with the ground and pound but Fukuda regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Fukuda won't allow Striker to pass to mount.
Fukuda is trying to maintain the position but Striker is very close to passing his half guard.
Striker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fukuda's head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Zach Striker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Striker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
