PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sucker Punch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimbo Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sucker Punch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kimbo Cain!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Eddie Farnsworth and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cain is looking to clinch but Punch is avoiding it.

Punch bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Punch throwing strikes but Cain manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Cain tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Cain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Punch keeps working.
Cain working the ground and pound.

Cain is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Punch has escaped the position, nice work there.

Cain has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Punch closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Punch is breathing heavily.
Punch working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Cain's thigh. Cain counters though and makes it back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Punch throws a strike but Cain rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Cain tries to stand but Punch is controlling from the bottom.
Cain works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Cain is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Punch keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cain tries to stand but can't do so whilst Punch controls his leg.
Punch knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cain on the ground.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cain looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cain tries to clinch but Punch moves out of range.

Cain has taken the fight to the clinch.
Cain lands a nice uppercut.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cain connects with a knee to the head.
Cain lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Cain landing knees to the head.
Punch is working for takedown but Cain is calmly controlling the position for now.
Cain lands a knee to the head.
Cain lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Cain throws a knee to the head but misses.
Punch takes a knee right on the jaw!
Good body shot from Cain.
Cain with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Cain tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Cain gets underhooks to prevent Punch's takedown attempt.
Cain lands a nice uppercut.
Cain missing with knees to the body.
Cain lands a knee to the head.
Cain throws a knee to the head but misses.
Punch blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Cain scores a nice knee to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Punch has Cain pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Punch pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cain tumbling to the mat - Punch dives into Cain's guard.
Punch is looking to work some ground and pound but Cain has wrist control.
Punch prevents Cain from getting back to his feet.
Punch has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Cain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Cain pushes Punch off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Cain tries to clinch there but Punch circles away.
Cain stuffs the takedown attempt from Punch. Punch gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kimbo Cain dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Cain tries to close the distance and clinch but Punch swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Punch shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cain is trying to defend but Punch finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Cain is trying to stand.
Punch thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Cain to regain full guard.
Punch in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cain is looking to stand up but Punch isn't so interested in that idea.

Punch has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Cain to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Punch is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Cain pulls down on the head and he's put Punch to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kimbo Cain!
