PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Craig Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blatz Beer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beer comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hostile Mass kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Craig Brown has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Craig Brown seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Craig Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Blatz Beer! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brown keeps Beer at a distance using the push kick. Nice takedown defense from Brown. No joy for Beer on that attempt. A nice leg kick lands there from Brown. Beer closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Beer postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brown wants to get back to his feet but Beer drags him back down. Beer tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Brown tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Beer looking to control but Brown is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Beer throws a sloppy strike and Brown uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Brown has ended up in Beer's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beer is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Brown is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Brown stopping the sweep attempt from Beer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Beer wants to get back to his feet but Brown is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Beer working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Brown has passed into half guard!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Beer is holding on to half guard well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Brown stops Beer from getting back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Brown slows the pace down in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Craig Brown dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
No luck for Beer with that takedown attempt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Beer. Brown fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Brown moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
It looks like Blatz Beer has been cut. Beer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brown's waist but Brown gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beer off to one side. Craig Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blatz Beer. Brown pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Brown's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Brown duly obliges. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Brown rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Beer moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Craig Brown is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Brown fails to land with a series of punches.
Beer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brown tries to avoid it but Beer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brown to the ground. Brown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Brown leaves Beer with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Beer is breathing heavily. Brown throws a right hand that Beer ducks under and follows up with a left that Beer also avoids with ease. Brown drops Beer with a beautiful combination! Beer stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Brown is looking for the KO!
Beer is rocked!
That has opened up Blatz Beer's cut even more. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A slapping leg kick lands for Brown.
Beer shoots in for a double leg but Brown sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. A nice leg kick lands there from Brown. Brown lands with a thumping leg kick.

The cut above Blatz Beer's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Brown works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Brown fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Beer to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Beer looks to clinch but Brown throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Beer taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Craig Brown!
