Johns comes to the cage accompanied by By the Sword - Slash. Popovic has chosen None as his entrance music. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

11 - 10 - 1, fighting out of New York, Branko Popovic!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Chad Campbell and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, jab by Johns - just one landing.
Johns throws out a loose jab but Popovic uses good head movement to avoid it.
Popovic walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Johns goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Popovic ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Johns throws a sloppy head kick and Popovic moves out of range easily.
Johns throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johns looks to land a combination. Popovic sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Popovic lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Johns sprawling to the canvas. Popovic follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Johns hang on?
It looks like Shane Johns has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Popovic seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Johns is trying to stand.
Popovic looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Popovic is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johns is just riding it out for now. Popovic eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Popovic is working for a kimura but Johns is defending it quite comfortably.

Popovic stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johns swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Popovic slips nicely into half guard.
Johns keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Johns wants to control but Popovic is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Popovic with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Johns not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Popovic with a flurry of punches that miss.
Johns is looking to stand up but Popovic isn't so interested in that idea.
Johns has a closed guard, preventing Popovic from standing up.
Johns is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Popovic is aware though and is defending well.

Johns is breathing heavily.
Johns had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Popovic defends it easily.
Popovic wants to control from the top but Johns keeps moving.

Popovic keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Johns's head.
Johns looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Popovic connects with a couple of short punches.
Johns is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Popovic got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johns has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Popovic has managed to get both his arms back between Johns's legs - danger averted.
Johns has his feet on Popovic's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Johns swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Johns tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Popovic misses with a two punch combination.
Johns swings for the body but Popovic moves out of range.

Johns goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Popovic has cracked Johns with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Popovic lands another huge swinging hook and Johns tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Johns, before Popovic can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:06 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Branko Popovic!
