The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herd fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jacobs avoids it really well and circles away.
Jacobs dodges the punch combination from Herd.
Herd looks to land a combination. Jacobs sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jacobs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jacobs goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Herd turns into him and now he's in Jacobs's guard.

Jacobs rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Herd moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Jacobs counters with a takedown into side control.
Jacobs swings around for an armbar but Herd sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jacobs's guard.

Jacobs is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Jacobs looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Herd is defending well. Jacobs quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Herd has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Jacobs celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
