Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rusty Trombone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshihiro Takaya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trombone comes to the cage accompanied by Back in Black by AC/DC. Takaya has chosen Jimi Hendrix - All along the Watchtower as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rusty Trombone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yoshihiro Takaya!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trombone uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Takaya.
Trombone lands with a straight right. Takaya didn't see that one coming.
Trombone slips a jab from Takaya.

BOOM! Takaya connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Trombone tries to reverse the position but Takaya maintains control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Takaya can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Trombone is looking to escape.
Takaya might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Trombone kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Takaya has hold of Trombone's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Trombone manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Trombone is looking to improve his position but Takaya isn't that keen on the idea.

It looks like Rusty Trombone has been cut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee warns Trombone that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Trombone wants to control but Takaya is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Takaya throws a good cross that connects.
Takaya lands the left hand.
Takaya shoots for a double leg takedown but Trombone sprawls well. He's pushed Takaya's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Takaya takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Trombone throws a head kick but Takaya moves out of range.
A shot to the liver by Takaya. Beautiful body shot.
Takaya misses with a few strikes there.
Trombone with a poor takedown
and Takaya counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Takaya enables Trombone to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Takaya manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Tromboneis looking to pass into half guard but Takaya pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Takaya is in guard.
Trombone avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Takaya wants to control from the top but Trombone keeps moving.
Takaya throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Trombone works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Takaya stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Trombone swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Trombone avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Takaya pushes down on Trombone's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Trombone trying to hold on to Takaya's head to control him but Takaya postures up.
Takaya lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Takaya has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Trombone tries to get to full guard but Takaya has control of the leg.
Takaya tries to pass to full mount but Trombone defends it.

Takaya shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Trombone shoots in but Takaya avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Trombone throws a right and a left that Takaya avoids nicely.
Trombone misses with a body shot.
Trombone closes the distance and clinches up with Takaya, looking for a takedown. Trombone pushes Takaya against the cage but Takaya circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Takaya tries to keep at a distance but Trombone has taken the fight into the clinch.
Takaya lands a body punch in the clinch.
Trombone tries to work over Takaya's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Trombone misses with the head strike.

Takaya tries to pull guard but Trombone holds him up against the cage and eventually Takaya drops back down to his feet.
Trombone is working for takedown but Takaya is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rusty Trombone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Takaya lands a nice uppercut.

Takaya breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Takaya lands a jab to Trombone's midsection.
Takaya's corner calls for a 1-2. Takaya obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Takaya fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Trombone manages to avoid it.

and Trombone decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Takaya's guard.

Takaya has his foot on Trombone's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Trombone works his way back into a safe position though.
Takaya wants to get back to his feet but Trombone is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Trombone drops back looking for a leg! Takaya is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Takaya manages to kick Trombone off! Trombone jumps back into Takaya's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Takaya is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Takaya lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Trombone!

Takaya can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Trombone is looking to escape.
Trombone is desperately trying to improve his position but Takaya has a good base and remains in mount.
Trombone wants to hold on but Takaya pushes him away.
Takaya cracks Trombone with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Trombone can't escape the position.
Takaya lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Trombone tries to reverse the position but Takaya maintains control.

Well Takaya has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
