Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Paredao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Shears (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Paredao might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to If you want blood - ACDC. Shears is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paredao shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shears as he jumps to the side.
Shears misses with a body shot.
Paredao swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Paredao fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Shears defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Paredao.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexander Paredao. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Paredao has a takedown stuffed.
Paredao shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shears sprawls well. Shears wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Paredao gets slowly back to his feet.
Alexander Paredao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Shears remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
