Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Odayr Shurlt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Paulo Nobrega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Odayr Shurlt has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Odayr Shurlt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Paulo Nobrega! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shurlt slaps away a takedown attempt from Nobrega, before circling back to the center of the mat. Nobrega looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Nobrega throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Shurlt rushes Nobrega and presses him up against the ropes. Shurlt stalls. Shurlt digs a right hand underneath Nobrega's ribcage. Nobrega let out a lung full of air as it connected. A bit of stalling here from Shurlt.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Shurlt for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Shurlt creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shurlt has clasped his hands together around Nobrega's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Shurlt tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Shurlt remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Shurlt has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Shurlt tries for a kimura but Nobrega is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shurlt taking a breather here. Nobrega can't do much from the bottom here. Shurlt working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Shurlt tries to advance to mount but can't. Nobrega is trying to escape the position but Shurlt is controlling the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Shurlt controlling from mount. Shurlt is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Shurlt scores with a nice right hand.
Shurlt throws a combination. Nobrega tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Pedro Paulo Nobrega has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Shurlt swinging wildly here.

Odayr Shurlt dominated that round. The cut man is working on Pedro Paulo Nobrega's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Shurlt throws a nice looking combination but Nobrega bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Nobrega slips a jab and a cross from Shurlt.
Shurlt closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nobrega wants a takedown but no success here.
Shurlt has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Nobrega regains guard immediately. Shurlt showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Nobrega is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shurlt's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Odayr Shurlt just wasn't active enough. Shurlt closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Shurlt lands in his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shurlt slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Shurlt seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nobrega for as long as he can get away with. Nobrega keeping full guard, as Shurlt tries to pass.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Odayr Shurlt wasn't doing enough on the ground. Nobrega showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shurlt.
Shurlt closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nobrega did well to prevent Shurlt getting side control. Shurlt moves nicely into side control. Shurlt in side control, just content to control the action for now. Shurlt passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Nobrega!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shurlt controlling the position easily from mount. BOOM! Shurlt connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Odayr Shurlt dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Pedro Paulo Nobrega's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Shurlt with a body punch. A glancing blow. Shurlt attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Shurlt throws a right and a left that both miss. Shurlt misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Shurlt is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nobrega can do to turn this around? Shurlt swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Nobrega shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Shurlt counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Nobrega's guard now. Nobrega takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shurlt pushing down on Nobrega's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Shurlt is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Shurlt controlling his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shurlt looking to secure an arm triangle but Nobrega defends it well. Shurlt wants to finish this one by submission but Nobrega is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Shurlt. Shurlt takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Shurlt looking for a guillotine from mount but Nobrega is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shurlt looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Nobrega reaches up to try and pull Shurlt in and control his posture, but Shurlt latches on to an arm and pivots quickly for an armbar! Nobrega taps out and this one is all over!
