Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Campos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Justin Hale! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hale shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Campos is trying to defend but Hale finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Campos is staying active underneath Hale, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Campos trying to control here.
Hale is pressing down on Campos's thigh, looking to free his foot. Campos is holding on for now. Hale decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Campos fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hale manages to avoid it. Hale takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Hale misses with a shot to the body and Campos moves into the clinch. Campos breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Campos gets in close and instigates a clinch. A knee to the head by Campos.
It looks like Justin Hale has been cut. Campos is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Campos obliges. Campos tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Hale pulls guard effortlessly. Campos content to stall in guard here. Hale is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hale scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Hale fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Campos avoids it really well and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Campos looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hale! Campos landing strikes from the mount. This has been an exciting period of action! Campos controlling his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Campos jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Hale is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Hale and Campos has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Hale has one of Campos's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Campos tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Campos has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hale regains half guard there - taking advantage of Campos's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Campos thows a huge punch but Hale dodges it nicely.
Hale keeping control of the position. Campos is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hale doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Campos.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hale is staying active underneath Campos, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Campos throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Hale trying to control from the bottom.
Hale is in trouble now - Campos has advanced to mount! Campos goes for an armbar but Hale turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Hale. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Campos tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Some bone on bone action there as Hale checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Hale fails with the takedown and Campos counters by clinching up. Campos lands an elbow just above Hale 's eye. Campos digs a right hand into Hale's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Hale's gas tank. Campos turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Campos wants to control but Hale is keeping him busy. Campos wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hale, who protects the arm well. Campos tries to move to full mount but Hale actually manages to regain half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Campos frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Campos throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Campos with a couple of short strikes. Campos prevents Hale from getting the reversal. Campos trying to control but Hale is having none of it. Campos can't control as he wanted to and Hale manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Campos thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hale's head. Campos working over Hale with some ground and pound. Hale looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Campos thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hale to regain full guard. Campos preventing the sweep. Hale pulls Campos in close to his closed guard and prevents Campos from doing any damage or advancing position. Hale keeping moving, preventing Campos from controlling successfully. Campos postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Daniel Campos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Campos pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hale is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hale looking for a sweep. Not yet Hale, not yet. Hale lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Campos! Campos working to try and regain half guard.
Hale takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Hale with shots to the head and body - Campos looks very uncomfortable down there. A nice elbow there by Hale.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hale wants to control the pace but Campos is squirming around nicely. Campos is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Hale wants to control the pace but Campos is squirming around nicely. Hale looking to finish with strikes here!

That was a close second round but I would say that Daniel Campos will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Justin Hale's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Hale is looking to clinch. Hale throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hale closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Campos is looking to regain half guard here but Hale keeps moving and retains side control. Hale thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Hale connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Campos some visible discomfort.
Hale goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Campos has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hale but great work by Campos.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hale takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Hale slips a nice elbow through Campos's hands, connecting with Campos's forehead. Hale seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Campos wants to control but Hale is keeping busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hale is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Campos has managed to free his arm - good work. Campos wants to get back to full guard. Hale working over Campos with some ground and pound. Campos looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Campos moves into full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hale working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Campos's head. Campos wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Hale wants to control from the top but Campos keeps moving. Hale wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Campos's closed guard. He's half up but Campos has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Campos pivots and extends the arm, Hale falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Campos! Well done that man!
