Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lawrence Cohen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cohen has chosen Season in the Abyss as his entrance music. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lawrence Cohen! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A looping hook to the body misses from James. Cohen does a little dance to reset his feet. James misses with a straight right. James throws a hook but Cohen blocks it. Cohen throws a series of punches but James avoids them all with ease. James misses with a straight left. James ducks under a wild hook from Cohen. Cohen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. James on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if James tries to get out of the position. James wants to control but Cohen postures up. Who's going to make the next move? James tries to improve position but can't. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Cohen working away. James is trying to get back to half guard. James is not content to let Cohen control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. James tries to escape but Cohen is in control. Cohen moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. James tries to buck Cohen off but Cohen is having none of it. A lull in the action here as Cohen stalls from top position. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cohen tries to clinch there but James circles away.
James looks to land a left hand but Cohen moved out of range nicely. James gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Cohen thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cohen on the ground. That's two minutes gone in the round. Cohen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. James wants to sweep but no luck. James is trying to control the position but Cohen postures up. We're going to have a standup here because Jon James wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Cohen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has James pinned against the cage. James gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Cohen takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Cohen takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Cohen throws a body punch but James moves out of range. James fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cohen on the side of the head. Cohen doesn't manage to clinch there - James circles away.
James throws a lazy right hand but Cohen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Cohen slips under a jab. A slow jab from James misses its intended target. James misses with a jab to the body
and Cohen counters with a nice double leg into half guard. James is trying to control but Cohen manages to pass to mount!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cohen is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, James has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cohen controlling from mount. Cohen misses with a head shot. Cohen manages to capitalize on a mistake by James to take his back! You can see the frustration on James's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cohen struggling to keep hold of the position.

A close round but Lawrence Cohen will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Cohen moves away from the strike by James. James stuns Cohen with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Cohen jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
James scores with a decent looking hook. James swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Cohen shoots in looking for a takedown. James tries to sprawl out of it but Cohen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. James manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Jon James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lawrence Cohen. Cohen scores with a jab. James acknowledges it with a nod of the head. James with a jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cohen defending well as James loads up on a big left hand. Cohen staying out of range there. Cohen is looking to take this fight into the clinch. James slips a jab and a cross from Cohen.
Cohen closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. James quickly recovers to half guard. Cohen tries to pass the half guard into mount. James knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. James desperately trying to maintain half guard. James is refusing to be controlled, as Cohen sits in half guard. Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Cohen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. James pushing out the jab but it's not landing. James lands a jab to Cohen's midsection. James misses with a hook. Cohen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

James uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cohen has time to react. Jon James is winning the standup battle so far. Cohen slips under a jab from James. Cohen scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Cohen keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
James gets tackled into the cage by Cohen. Cohen maintains the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cohen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around James's waist but James gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cohen off to one side. Cohen shoots in looking for a takedown but James manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cohen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. James misses with a body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Cohen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Cohen wants to control but James is keeping him busy. Cohen is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, James has escaped the position, nice work there. Cohen is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but James is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Cohen takes a little break here. James wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Cohen is trying to get an arm triangle but James is defending well. Cohen tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Lawrence Cohen has got the better of the ground game so far. James is looking for a sweep. James wants to get back to his feet but Cohen is dominant here and he's now got James's back! Cohen wants to control but James is keeping busy. Cohen has the hooks in. James is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. James is covering up but some of the strikes from Cohen are getting through and doing damage.
Cohen is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Cohen gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Cohen gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Cohen apologises and we restart here on the feet.
James swings and misses with a shot to the body and Cohen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. James keeping full guard, as Cohen tries to pass. James wants to get back to his feet but Cohen is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Cohen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cohen is one step ahead there. Cohen not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Cohen looking to pass the guard. Cohen wants to control from the top but James keeps moving. James is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cohen is controlling him.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. James throws a shot from downtown. Cohen moves away and avoids it. James avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Lawrence Cohen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Cohen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
