Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marshall Mathers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marshall Eriksen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mathers comes to the cage accompanied by Anthem of Kings. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Mathers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Eriksen!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Russell Pearce and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eriksen throws a body punch but Mathers moves out of range.
Mathers scores with a hook.
Eriksen misses with a few strikes there.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Eriksen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Eriksen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mathers.
Mathers will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Eriksen gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Eriksen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Mathers misses with a jab, cross combination.
Eriksen misses with a double jab
and Mathers counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Eriksen avoids the body shot from Mathers.
Eriksen takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Eriksen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mathers.
Mathers has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Eriksen finds it's way round the side to connect with Mathers's head.

A jab from Mathers finds it's way through Eriksen's defenses.
Mathers changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eriksen tries to avoid it but Mathers manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eriksen to the ground. Eriksen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mathers throws a body punch but Eriksen moves out of range.
Eriksen closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Eriksen throws a hook but Mathers avoids it easily.
Eriksen throws a combination that misses

and Mathers counters with a shoot takedown. Eriksen fights it but they end up in guard.
Mathers content to stall in guard here.

Eriksen is looking to stand back up but Mathers counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Eriksen.
Mathers looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Mathers wants to advance to full mount but Eriksen doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mathers won't allow Eriksen to get back to his feet.
Mathers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marshall Mathers dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Eriksen takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A big right from Eriksen misses.
Mathers throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Eriksen's waist but Eriksen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mathers off to one side.
The crowd cheers as Mathers lands an impressive looking overhand right. Eriksen doesn't seem phased though.
Mathers lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Mathers lands with a nice combination. Eriksen backs away looking to recover.
Marshall Mathers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Eriksen thows a left - swing and a miss!
Eriksen misses with a straight left.
Mathers shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Eriksen pinned against the cage. Eriksen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Eriksen throws a sloppy body shot
and Mathers counters with a two punch combo.
Marshall Eriksen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheers as Mathers lands an impressive looking overhand right. Eriksen doesn't seem phased though.
Eriksen moves in looking to clinch but Mathers pushes him off.
Eriksen throws a looping overhand right but Mathers ducks down to avoid it.
Eriksen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mathers circles away quickly and effectively.
Mathers tries to score a power double leg takedown but Eriksen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mathers somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marshall Mathers. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mathers closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Eriksen misses with an uppercut. Mathers saw that one coming.
Mathers clobbers Eriksen with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Eriksen moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Eriksen swings away with a body shot that misses
and Mathers makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mathers.
Eriksen swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Eriksen uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mathers has time to react.
Danga de danga de dang - Mathers scores with a four punch combination!
Mathers lands a head shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mathers lands a lovely overhand right.
Horrible takedown by Mathers or perhaps it was just good defense by Eriksen which made him look bad.

Mathers throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mathers.
Mathers paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Mathers drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee asks Mathers politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Mathers prefers to stall for the moment though.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Eriksen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mathers asserts his dominance and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Mathers lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Eriksen at a distance.
Eriksen takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Eriksen smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Eriksen throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Mathers shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Eriksen as he jumps to the side.
Eriksen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Eriksen tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Mathers counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Eriksen might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Eriksen moves in looking to clinch but Mathers pushes him off.

Eriksen lands with a hook. Mathers tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Eriksen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mathers scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Mathers throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Eriksen tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mathers is in Eriksen's guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Marshall Eriksen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mathers's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Marshall Mathers just wasn't active enough.
Eriksen swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Eriksen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mathers ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Mathers jabs Eriksen to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Eriksen missing with a left hand there. Mathers was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mathers, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
