PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mark Oswald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abel Stamp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Oswald!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Abel Stamp!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stamp throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Stamp fails with a takedown attempt.
Oswald tries to close the distance and clinch but Stamp swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Oswald displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Oswald misses with a low kick.
Stamp falls off balance throwing a combination
and Oswald counters with a low kick, right behind Stamp 's knee.

Stamp gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Stamp breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Stamp scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Oswald doesn't seem bothered though.
Oswald tries to close the distance and clinch but Stamp swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Stamp shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Oswald's guard.
Stamp has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Oswald is proving hard to escape from.
Stamp trying to control the position from guard on top but Oswald is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Oswald wants to stand and escape but Stamp is having none of it.

Oswald utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stamp trying to control but Oswald is working from the bottom.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Abel Stamp has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Oswald tries to clinch but Stamp is having none of it.
Stamp shoots in and drives through. Oswald sprawls well.

Stamp lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Stamp tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Oswald swivels and escapes.

Oswald really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Stamp looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Stamp is trying to work for a kimura but Oswald is defending well.

Stamp seems to be looking for submissions.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Stamp throwing shots but Oswald is blocking nicely.

Oswald misses with a leg kick.
Oswald throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stamp is defended easily by Oswald.

Stamp stalks Oswald and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Oswald's face. Oswald staggers backwards, shaken.

and Stamp counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Stamp avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Oswald misses with a few strikes there.

Stamp shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Oswald's guard.

Stamp looking to sit in guard and control but Oswald gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Stamp wants to sweep but no luck.

Stamp fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Oswald looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Stamp takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Oswald pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Stamp misses with a two punch combination.
Stamp misses with a head kick.
Stamp keeps the fight on the outside.
Oswald takes one to the side of the head.
Stamp scores with a shot to the body.
Stamp misses with a double jab
and Oswald counters with a slapping leg kick.
Oswald tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Stamp throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Oswald's waist but Oswald gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stamp off to one side.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Stamp.

Oswald tries to clinch up but Stamp circles away and keeps his distance.

Stamp throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Stamp bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Stamp lands with an overhand left.
A left and a right from Stamp both land. Nice combination.

Stamp decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Stamp content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Oswald is staying active underneath Stamp, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Stamp throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Stamp controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Stamp moves nicely into side control.
Oswald is not content to let Stamp control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The strikes coming from Stamp are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Stamp wants to pass to mount but Oswald is defending the position.

Stamp is looking for a kimura but Oswald is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Stamp to get the leverage.
Stamp landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Stamp is working for a submission of some sort.
Stamp content to control rather than advance.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Stamp throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Stamp not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Stamp decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Stamp closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Stamp is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Oswald knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Oswald knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stamp on the ground.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Stamp stands up and beckons Oswald to his feet.

Stamp shoots in and bounces Oswald off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Stamp is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Abel Stamp is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Mark Oswald has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Abel Stamp comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stamp has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
