Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between David Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Winchester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sam Winchester!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Winchester misses the target.
Johnson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Winchester defends it nicely.
Winchester is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Johnson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Winchester misses with a hook. Johnson ducked under it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Winchester is pushing Johnson's head away, looking to escape. Johnson manages to hold on to the position though.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Winchester misses with a hook. Johnson ducked under it nicely.
Johnson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Winchester avoids it really well and circles away.
Winchester throws a jab when Johnson was well out of range.

Johnson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Winchester was covering up waiting for the punch and Johnson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Johnson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Winchester dodges the punch combination from Johnson.
Winchester swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Johnson counters with a single leg into guard. Winchester didn't expect that.
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Winchester swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Johnson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Johnson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Johnson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Winchester wants to stand but Johnson is controlling the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Johnson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Johnson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Winchester is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Winchester has escaped and now he's on top!

Winchester has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.

Johnson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Winchester doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Winchester manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Winchester wants to get up but he can't break Johnson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Winchester really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Winchester would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

David Johnson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
