PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Berdo Haaasik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bunson Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Berdo Haaasik!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bunson Turner!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Dean Styles and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haaasik closes this distance looking for a takedown but Turner circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Haaasik enables Turner to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Haaasik manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Turner wants to work for an arm triangle but Haaasik is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Turner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Turner postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Haaasik looks a forlorn figure.

Turner tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Turner wants to control the pace but Haaasik is squirming around nicely.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Turner, as that shot connected.
Haaasik ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Haaasik shoots in for a double leg but Turner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Haaasik rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Turner moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nice uppercut lands for Turner. That snapped Haaasik's head back.

Turner throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Haaasik was covering up waiting for the punch and Turner finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Turner feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Haaasik's calf.

Turner closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Turner lands in his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Turner got a little sloppy there for a moment and Haaasik has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Turner has managed to get both his arms back between Haaasik's legs - danger averted.
Turner seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Haaasik is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Turner is aware though and is defending well.

Let's hope that Turner has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
