Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Flavio Sandoval! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mickey Javier Pantaleon! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pantaleon wants to clinch. Sandoval closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sandoval lands in his opponent's guard. Pantaleon is trying to control the position but Sandoval postures up. Sandoval is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Pantaleon wants to sweep but no luck. Pantaleon working for a triangle but Sandoval defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pantaleon wants to sweep but no luck. Sandoval slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Sandoval forces his way into half guard. Sandoval performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Pantaleon is trying to get back to full guard. Sandoval seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Pantaleon trying to control here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Pantaleon is trying to maintain the position but Sandoval is very close to passing his half guard. Sandoval trying to mount his opponent but Pantaleon defends it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sandoval has closed the distance and engaged Pantaleon in a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Pantaleon throws an elbow but it misses.
A bit of stalling here from Sandoval.
Sandoval breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Pantaleon defending well as Sandoval loads up on a big left hand. Sandoval swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Sandoval looks to land a right hand but Pantaleon moved out of range. Sandoval fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pantaleon, pushing him back against the cage. Pantaleon tries to break the clinch but Sandoval is controlling the position. Sandoval breaks from the clinch.
Sandoval shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pantaleon napping and manages to drive through into side control! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pantaleon tries to improve position but can't. Sandoval takes a little break here. Pantaleon wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Flavio Sandoval dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Sandoval throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Sandoval keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Sandoval fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pantaleon, pushing him back against the cage. Pantaleon tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sandoval smiles and moves away.
Pantaleon clinches but Sandoval breaks the clinch and Sandoval counters with a two punch combo. Sandoval connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Pantaleon! He's out on his feet! Sandoval rushes in and drops Pantaleon with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Flavio Sandoval!
