Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Markus Mac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Pummel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mac avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mac will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pummel misses with a series of wild punches.
Markus Mac seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circle momentarily. Mac darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Pummel connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Mac closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pummel to the mat! Pummel manages to get full guard.
Mac tries to free his leg and advance position but Pummel is retaining full guard.
Mac gets to his feet. Pummel looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Pummel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Pummel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pummel throws a looping overhand right but Mac ducks down to avoid it.
Mac rushes Pummel and presses him up against the ropes.
Mac decides to pull guard.
Pummel is looking to stand up but Mac won't let him.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Mac is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Pummel is controlling him well.
Pummel tries for a kimura but Mac is defending well.
Mac on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mac tries to get out of the position.

Mac tries to bench press Pummel off him but Pummel keeps the position.
Pummel wants to control but Mac is keeping him busy.
Pummel might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mac kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Pummel wants to stand but Mac has his arm trapped.
Mac gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Mac is looking to control Pummel's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mac avoid being mounted?

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pummel has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mac tries to hold on but Pummel postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's time! Mac's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Pummel throws a series of punches but Mac moves out of range.
Pummel is looking to clinch but Mac is avoiding it.
Mac is looking to score with low kicks.
Mac tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Pummel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mac misses with a double jab
and Pummel counters with a stiff right hand.
Mac digs a good body shot into Pummel's ribs.
Mac fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Pummel.
Mac throws a hook but Pummel avoids it easily.
Mac shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Sam Pummel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mac takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Mac rushes Pummel and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Mac is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Pummel tries to stand but Mac is controlling from the bottom.
Pummel wants to control from the top but Mac keeps moving.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mac wants to stand but Pummel is controlling the position.
Pummel trying to control the position from guard on top but Mac is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sam Pummel.
Mac throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mac scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Mac swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Mac moves into the clinch successfully.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Mac is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Pummel reverses the position - he's now on top in Mac's guard.
Pummel stands and throws Mac's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Pummel wants to stand but Mac has his arm trapped.

Pummel throws a strike aimed at the side of Mac's head but Mac avoids it well.

Mac tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pummel wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Pummel thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Mac fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

enabling Pummel to counter with a crisp jab.
Mac throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pummel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mac circles away quickly and effectively.
Pummel tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Mac counters with a takedown into side control.
Mac is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pummel knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Pummel prevents Mac from moving into mount.
Pummel is not content to let Mac control the position.
Mac stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Mac misses with a few strikes there.
Mac throws a left and a right that both miss
and Pummel counters with a left and a right that stings Mac.
Mac closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pummel quickly recovers to half guard.

Pummel takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Mac slips a jab and a cross from Pummel.
Mac swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Pummel connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mac misses with a straight left.
Mac throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pummel.
An inside leg kick from Mac misses.
Pummel misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pummel moves forwards but Mac connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Mac clinches with his opponent.

Mac drags the fight down to the ground.
Pummel missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Pummel throws a big right hand that misses.
Pummel stands and steps away. Mac gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Mac tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pummel was well out of range. Poor timing from Mac.
Mac jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Pummel misses with a few strikes there.
Mac tries to bum rush Pummel with a series of wild strikes but Pummel uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Mac, as that shot connected.
Mac misses with a series of wild punches.
Pummel misses with a double jab.
Markus Mac is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Mac closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Pummel is not content to let Mac control the position.
Pummel slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Pummel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mac doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mac manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Pummel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mac stands and steps away. Pummel gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Markus Mac is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mac, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
