PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Los Anjos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Lestat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Los Anjos comes into the arena with After Dark - Tito and Tarantula blaring out of the sound system. John Lestat will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Lestat!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Los Anjos is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lestat is trying hard to land a takedown here. Los Anjos sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Lestat shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Los Anjos looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Los Anjos is looking to work his way around to Lestat's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Los Anjos looking to secure an arm triangle but Lestat defends it well.

Los Anjos is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lestat can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Los Anjos is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Lestat is looking for a sweep. Los Anjos is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Los Anjos seems to be working for a kimura but Lestat defends the submission attempt.
Los Anjos is breathing heavily.

Los Anjos looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Lestat makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Lestat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Los Anjos pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lestat is keeping the position for now.

Lestat controls Los Anjos momentarily but Los Anjos frees himself.
Los Anjos won't allow Lestat to sweep him here.

Los Anjos gets to his feet. Lestat looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Los Anjos throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Los Anjos sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Los Anjos darts in trying to clinch
and Lestat counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Lestat stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lestat wants it to stay on the feet.

Lestat closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Lestat throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Los Anjos tries to get to full guard but Lestat has control of the leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lestat frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Los Anjos is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Lestat working the ground and pound effectively.
Los Anjos wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Lestat.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lestat lands a heavy elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gabriel Los Anjos dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Lestat throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Lestat counters with a single leg into guard. Los Anjos didn't expect that.

Los Anjos seems keen to control Lestat's posture.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lestat trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Los Anjos manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Los Anjos looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Lestat is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Los Anjos with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Lestat keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Los Anjos has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lestat's face.

Los Anjos looking to control but Lestat is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Gabriel Los Anjos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Lestat regains half guard.
Lestat is pressing down on Los Anjos's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Los Anjos won't allow Lestat to get back to his feet.
Los Anjos works over Lestat with some ground and pound from guard.
Los Anjos trying to control the position from guard on top but Lestat is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lestat is trying to control but Los Anjos manages to pass to mount!

Los Anjos is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Lestat to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lestat shrugs it off.
Lestat flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Los Anjos prevents Lestat from getting the reversal.

Los Anjos is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Lestat is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Lestat flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Los Anjos anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Lestat and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Los Anjos slips an arm under Lestat chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Los Anjos has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Los Anjos is squeezing on Lestat like an anaconda would it's prey. Lestat fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Gabriel Los Anjos!
