The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Valeri Chadov and Vladimir Khabensky.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hitachi shoots for a double leg takedown but Liljedahl sprawls well. He's pushed Hitachi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A head kick misses from Liljedahl.
Hitachi chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Liljedahl can pounce on him.
Liljedahl displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hitachi.
Hitachi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sven Liljedahl has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Philco Hitachi.

Hitachi is trying desperately to land a takedown but Liljedahl is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Hitachi.

It looks like Philco Hitachi has been cut.
Hitachi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Hitachi on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Hitachi chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Liljedahl can pounce on him.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hitachi crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Liljedahl - the referee stops the clock and Hitachi gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Liljedahl. Hitachi manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Hitachi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Liljedahl sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hitachi somewhat.

Liljedahl lands a big head kick that sends Hitachi tumbling to the mat! Liljedahl takes a step backwards and waves Hitachi back to his feet - he wants the finish!

That has opened up Philco Hitachi's cut even more.

Hitachi has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Liljedahl.
Liljedahl fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Hitachi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Hitachi sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Hitachi stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Liljedahl.

Liljedahl lands a head kick. Hitachi smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
