The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawass rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gonzalez moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gonzalez shoots in and drives through. Hawass sprawls well.
A left and a right from Hawass both land. Nice combination.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hawass, as that shot connected.

Hawass throws a right and a left that Gonzalez avoids nicely.
Hawass cracks Gonzalez with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
A jab from Hawass finds it's way through Gonzalez's defenses.
Hawass tries to bum rush Gonzalez with a series of wild strikes but Gonzalez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
DrZawi Hawass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A punch lands to the side of Gonzalez 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Gonzalez tries to close the distance and clinch but Hawass swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gonzalez shoots for a double leg takedown but Hawass sprawls well. He's pushed Gonzalez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

It looks like Mandy Gonzalez has been cut.
Gonzalez is trying desperately to land a takedown but Hawass is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Gonzalez.
Gonzalez takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Hawass throws a series of strikes that have Gonzalez backpedaling.

Hawass is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hawass but Hawass pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hawass lands a really nice looking cross but Gonzalez seems unphased.
Gonzalez has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

DrZawi Hawass is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gonzalez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hawass circles away.

Hawass is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Gonzalez might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Hawass has got the better of the exchanges.

Gonzalez needs to keep his hands up - Hawass had a free shot at his head there.

Hawass lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Gonzalez can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Hawass and Gonzalez drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Hawass.
