PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Disis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Schwarzeneg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Disis kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Polly Jean Harvey - Angry Johnny. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Disis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 15 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roger Schwarzeneg!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwarzeneg shoots in looking for a takedown. Disis tries to sprawl out of it but Schwarzeneg keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Disis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Disis connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.


It looks like Roger Schwarzeneg has been cut.

Schwarzeneg shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Disis is trying to defend but Schwarzeneg finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Disis is trying to stand.
Schwarzeneg is keen to just control but Disis is a slippery customer.
Disis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Disis.
Disis is looking to stand up but Schwarzeneg isn't so interested in that idea.

Disis working for a triangle but Schwarzeneg defends it easily.
Schwarzeneg is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Schwarzeneg tries to free his leg and advance position but Disis is retaining full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Disis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Schwarzeneg is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Disis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Schwarzeneg defends it easily.
Schwarzeneg thows a big elbow that misses.
Schwarzeneg connects with a couple of short punches.

Schwarzeneg drops back, looking for a kneebar! Disis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Disis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Disis!

Schwarzeneg wants to get back to his feet.
Schwarzeneg is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Disis's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Schwarzeneg avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Disis.

Schwarzeneg is looking for a sweep. Disis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Schwarzeneg has hold of Disis's hands but Disis slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Schwarzeneg kicks off Disis and gets to his feet.

Schwarzeneg tests Disis's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Schwarzeneg fails with a takedown attempt.
Schwarzeneg tries for a takedown but Disis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Johnny Disis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roger Schwarzeneg.
Disis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Disis finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Disis tries a head kick but it misses.
Schwarzeneg shoots in and drives through. Disis sprawls well.
The fighters circling - Disis throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Disis scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Disis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Schwarzeneg circles away quickly and effectively.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Schwarzeneg rushes Disis and presses him up against the cage.
Schwarzeneg jumps guard but Disis stands there with Schwarzeneg around his waist. Schwarzeneg gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Schwarzeneg tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Disis smiles and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Disis misses with a low kick.
Schwarzeneg showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Disis.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Schwarzeneg.

Disis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Schwarzeneg.
Roger Schwarzeneg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Disis sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Schwarzeneg decides to stand up, so the ref orders Disis to his feet.

Roger Schwarzeneg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Disis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Disis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Disis throws a right and a left that both miss.
A combination from Disis does no damage.
The fight stays on the outside here - Schwarzeneg looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Schwarzeneg moves in looking to clinch but Disis pushes him off.
Schwarzeneg dives in and grabs Disis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Disis pushes down on Schwarzeneg's head and hops out.

Schwarzeneg scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Schwarzeneg lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Disis manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Schwarzeneg trying to control the action but Disis is working from the bottom.

Disis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schwarzeneg pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Schwarzeneg jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Disis is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Disis and Schwarzeneg has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Schwarzeneg stands up and beckons Disis to his feet.

Schwarzeneg working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Roger Schwarzeneg has got the better of the ground game so far.
Disis tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Schwarzeneg trying to control the position from guard on top but Disis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Schwarzeneg gets to his feet. Disis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Schwarzeneg looks for a takedown but Disis sprawls well.
Schwarzeneg takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Schwarzeneg looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Johnny Disis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roger Schwarzeneg.
Schwarzeneg fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Disis bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Schwarzeneg's head.
Disis scores with a one two! Schwarzeneg had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Schwarzeneg shoots in looking for a takedown but Disis manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Schwarzeneg's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Disis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Disis throws a right and a left that both miss.
Schwarzeneg displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Disis throws out the jab.
Johnny Disis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Disis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Schwarzeneg manages to avoid it.

Roger Schwarzeneg comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Schwarzeneg has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
